DWELL: A Journey of Faith, Healing & Purpose

The healing roots of DWELL Organic Salon & Scalp Spa were planted over 14 years ago, when a series of life-changing diagnoses and unexplained symptoms led me to reevaluate the ingredients in the hair color and products I used on my salon clients every day. I quickly discovered the abundance of toxic chemicals, carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, and allergens found in the majority of hair and skin care products. This fueled my first leap of faith to open my first organic salon in South Florida. I felt an urgency to create a healthier salon environment not just for myself, but for the clients I served.
I spent the next few years researching and learning everything I could about natural, plant-based hair care while educating and encouraging other salon professionals to make the same shift for their own health.
The next step of faith came when my husband Matt and I felt called to relocate closer to family, returning to my home state of Michigan. What followed next tested my faith in a new way: my mom was diagnosed with the same terminal cancer that had taken both of my grandparents. She was my best friend and an enduring inspiration behind DWELL. I inherited my love for all things botanical from her, and a quiet trust in natural healing from my grandmother.
It was through her loss that I surrendered my life and committed my career to Jesus. I began praying for God to send people who needed His love and healing. My ministry was in my salon chair. Over time, my passion and resolve for a truly nurturing and natural salon experience deepened. I immersed myself in the study of botany, herbalism, and natural healing, determined to create a space where beauty, wellness, and purpose could dwell together.
The next step of faith came in 2020, when I began noticing a sudden rise in mysterious new symptoms among many of my clients—from hair loss and autoimmune disorders to scalp conditions and heightened skin sensitivities. My heart broke as they shared their stories and ongoing health struggles. Determined to find answers, I began studying trichology, holistic scalp care, and women’s hair loss more deeply. The connection between toxic hair products and overall wellness once again rose to the surface. Endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, and allergens hidden in conventional beauty products were overwhelming not only my clients but me as well.
My resolve to offer truly holistic hair and scalp care deepened with every story and every day that passed. One chilly November day, I knew it was time to step out in faith, and DWELL began to unfold. I continued my studies and became dual certified through the American Medical Certification Association, completing my Hair Loss Practitioner Certification at the U.S. Trichology Institute, based in New York. Since then, I’ve earned multiple advanced certifications in Scalp Spa and Head Spa therapies through leading educators in the field.
It was during this time I created and launched my first botanical skincare line, formulated with flowers and plants grown organically on our farm. That collection soon expanded to include scalp, haircare, and wellness formulations. Since then, our organic growing efforts have continued to evolve, now including a variety of hair-rejuvenating herbs, flowers, and botanicals thoughtfully integrated into the DWELL COLLECTIVE wellness line.
Once the name DWELL was chosen, I began studying every Scripture that carried the word dwell. Psalm 23:6 quickly became the anthem of this journey as I prayed for a location: “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Not long after, I noticed the building’s address was 23. Then, measuring the front entrance wall, it came to exactly 23 feet. Then, another unexpected heartache. Just weeks after signing my lease, my dad passed away unexpectedly. God was there to comfort. At his memorial, printed at the top of his guest book, was Psalm 23:6.
All of these God winks confirmed the calling to create a sanctuary—one devoted to holistic, wellness-based hair and scalp care. A peaceful, nurturing space built on love, rooted in faith, and grounded in a deep appreciation for the healing power of plants and the beauty of God’s creation.
Because healing begins where we dwell.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve so many incredible clients, addressing their unique scalp, hair, and wellness needs within the sanctuary of DWELL. I am truly blessed to walk this journey alongside them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggle was having patience in the waiting as everything unfolded. Patience as doors of opportunity opened and other doors closed. Patience waiting for provision and direction.

A private spa setting with one on one attention, focusing on root cause hair and scalp concerns for women’s dealing with various concerns from hormonal hair loss to problematic scalp conditions, dryness and flaking.. each concern is addressed using organic all natural botanical products and custom blended plant based masks and nutrient-rich compounds, many grown locally on our farm. I am a duel certified hair loss practitioner with over 25 years experience in the salon/spa industry, specializing in women’s hair rejuvenation.
