Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Hambleton.
Hi Eric, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My Instagram page, @ericlovescooking, started as a way for me to share my passion for cooking, which eventually led to food reviews and exciting collaborations with sports teams, popular brands, and creators. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and make a lot of great friends.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been smooth for the most part because I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. There are some challenges when it comes to keeping up with social media trends. As a content creator, you’re expected to post frequently, which can be tough when you’re living a busy life!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a foodie content creator, but what sets me apart is that I combine my love for cooking with my passion for dining out. I also share occasional lifestyle posts. Having creative freedom has always been important to me. I didn’t want to feel limited to just cooking or food reviews, especially because I’m so passionate about it. I never wanted the fun to disappear or for it to start feeling like a 9 to 5 job. So I create and post what I want, when I want, and it feels fantastic!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think it’s very important to take risks, whether they’re big or small. For me, I used to keep my face and personality out of the camera and all of my posts. I took a risk by bringing personality to my reels, whether through voiceovers or by speaking directly on camera. This really helped my page take off. I’ll admit, it wasn’t something I thought I’d be good at, but I learned a few things and got better over time. It paid off. Sometimes risks work out, sometimes they don’t—but one thing is 100% true: if you don’t try, you’ll never know if it could’ve worked.
