Today we’d like to introduce you to AJ Williams.
Hi AJ, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started in the most unexpected but deeply transformative way through my own personal dark night of the soul. I reached a point in my life where everything I thought I knew about success, relationships, and even myself began to unravel. What felt like loss at the time was really the beginning of my awakening. In the quiet after the chaos, I started to reconnect with parts of myself I had long buried: my intuitive gifts, my sensitivity to energy, and a deep calling to help others heal.
That awakening led me to step fully into my purpose, not just as a spiritual advisor or wellness practitioner, but as a guide who helps others reclaim their truth through holistic practices rooted in astrology, sound healing, shadow work, and soul alignment. Everything I offer under the Miss AJ Williams brand is born from that transformation. I’ve walked through the fire, and now I hold space for others to do the same with compassion, with power, and with real tools to rise.
Today, I’m honored to lead Sunday Communion, offer Sacred Sound Immersions, and support women, especially Black women, in their healing and self-love journeys. My work is a reflection of my own becoming. My spiritual gifts aren’t just something I studied; they’re something I survived and now embody.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. My path has been layered with deep emotional healing, spiritual initiation, and moments where I had to completely surrender everything I thought I wanted in order to discover what I truly needed.
One of the biggest struggles was learning how to trust myself again after years of people-pleasing, burnout, and shrinking my light to make others comfortable. I also had to face the fear of being seen, especially as a Black woman in wellness holding space for spiritual and intuitive work that isn’t always understood or accepted by the mainstream. There were moments of isolation, imposter syndrome, and questioning whether my voice and gifts even mattered.
Building my brand meant healing while showing up, evolving while teaching, and being willing to start over more than once. But every breakdown led to a breakthrough. Every time I thought I had lost myself, I was actually being led closer to my truth. Those struggles are the soul of my offerings today because I don’t just teach what I know, I teach what I’ve lived and survived.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love this question because my work is truly the heartbeat of who I am. Under my brand Miss AJ Williams, I’m a holistic wellness practitioner and spiritual advisor who helps women reconnect to their truth, reclaim their power, and rise into alignment with their highest self. I specialize in blending spiritual tools like astrology, sound healing, shadow work, and somatic practices with grounded emotional support and intuitive guidance. My approach is soulful but also practical, because real healing happens when spirit meets strategy.
I’m known for creating safe, affirming spaces for Black women and women of color to do deep inner work, whether through my signature offering Sunday Communion, private Sacred Sound Immersions, or one-on-one spiritual advisory sessions. I guide people through transformation not by preaching at them, but by walking with them as someone who has done and continues to do the work.
What I’m most proud of is the community that’s grown from my offerings. Seeing women come into my space carrying weight and leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected to themselves is the real reward. It means everything to me.
What sets me apart is that my work is rooted in lived experience. I didn’t just get certified or read books—I went through my own spiritual breakdown and awakening. I bring emotional depth, ancestral wisdom, and a realness that people can feel. I’m not trying to be perfect, I’m trying to be honest, and in that honesty, I give others permission to do the same. That’s where the healing starts.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk has been a necessary part of every major breakthrough in my life and work. I don’t think of risk as recklessness. I think of it as sacred surrender. It’s choosing to follow your inner knowing even when the outcome is uncertain, even when no one else understands it yet. That’s the kind of risk that’s shaped me.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was walking away from the version of myself that looked successful on paper but felt spiritually disconnected. I had a respected career in media and leadership, but I knew I was being called to do more, to show up in a way that was soul-led, vulnerable, and deeply rooted in healing. Launching Miss AJ Williams as a spiritual wellness brand meant putting my intuitive gifts front and center. That was scary. There’s always a fear that people won’t take you seriously or that you’ll lose credibility. But I realized the real risk was staying silent, staying hidden, and denying my purpose.
To me, risk is part of the spiritual journey. You don’t grow in comfort zones. You grow when you leap, when you trust, and when you’re willing to be seen in your full truth, even if that truth changes everything.
