Community Highlights: Meet Brandi Myree of Vinnie & June Brow and Grooming Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Myree.

Brandi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As the oldest of three girls, I was born into leadership. I loved teaching my sisters things and did my best to lead by example. I was a girly girl and enjoyed playing dress-up, planning spa nights, and doing makeup (when my mom and dad allowed it). I fell in love with makeup in high school and quickly became the go-to for my friends’ homecoming and prom looks. What started as something fun began to transform into a passion.

While attending college, I continued to do makeup as a self-taught artist. Then came a turning point: my first trip to Los Angeles for celebrity makeup classes and an industry trade show. That experience changed everything. It opened my eyes to the real possibility of a career in beauty. Still, I stayed the course and pursued a career in education. I loved teaching, but over time I began to feel dissatisfied and unfulfilled. I felt like God had something more for me.

While I was still teaching, I found myself getting busy with bridal inquiries—sometimes even using the time when my students were at specials or extracurricular classes to book bridal clients. My “side hustle” was quickly becoming something more. Eventually, the pull of the beauty industry became too strong to ignore.

What followed was nearly two decades of experience as a makeup artist, licensed esthetician, educator, and becoming a founding team member and General Manager of a beauty school startup (Multimedia Makeup Academy). I was constantly learning, growing, and falling deeper in love with the beauty industry—not just the artistry, but the impact it could have on people’s lives.

In 2017, my husband and I took a leap of faith and acquired Vinnie & June. It was the perfect blend of his dream of entrepreneurship and my passion for training and developing strong, service-driven teams. At the time, the salon was a small storefront in Clawson, Michigan with a growing reputation. I was still behind the chair, juggling roles in marketing, business development, training, and salon management.

Today, that little storefront has grown into a beautiful 1,500 sq. ft. salon, home to an incredible team of expertly trained and genuinely wonderful professionals. We specialize in luxury brow and lash services and pride ourselves on creating unmatched, personalized guest experiences. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide exceptional experiences that empower our guests with confidence and influence their lives for good.

Looking back, I never imagined that creating spa nights for my sisters would eventually lead to owning a salon, shaping future professionals, and helping women feel confident in their own skin. It’s been a challenging, rewarding and powerful journey of passion, resilience, resistance and ultimately growth- personally and professionally!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When is entrepreneurship ever smooth??

There have definitely been some tough seasons. One of the hardest things early on was building the right team. In my deep desire to help people grow, I often ignored my conviction when someone wasn’t a right fit for the company. I saw potential and held on too long, even when certain traits or behaviors didn’t align with our culture. That taught me a lot. It made me realize that character, values and alignment matter so much more than potential or talent.

A book that really helped shift my mindset was The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon. It taught me the importance of discerning who you should “let on your bus.”

In addition to that, I needed boundaries. There were so many days I’d stay super late for clients, skip meals, and just power through to fit as many people in as possible. I thought I was setting a strong example, but what I was really doing was modeling something that wasn’t healthy or sustainable—for my team or for me. I was addicted to the hustle.

Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend was another game-changer. Honestly, books have been some of my best mentors. Through all the hard lessons, I began to see how important it is to do the inner work personally if you want to thrive professionally. Your whole life transforms, not just your business.

As I leaned into that growth and rediscovered my identity in Christ—not just in what I do—I became a better wife, daughter, sister, friend, and leader.

Of course, there have been financial challenges, marketing roadblocks, and all the normal ups and downs that come with running a business. But trusting God and surrendering my need for success has been the single best business strategy I could have.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
