Today we’d like to introduce you to Melina Fuller.
Hi Melina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Starting my business wasn’t something that happened overnight—oh, wait it was!! 😉
This journey was a walk of faith, passion, and a lot of hard work.
I’ve always had a heart for people. I love creating space for others to feel seen, heard, and deeply cared for. That desire naturally led me into the world of cosmetology. I became a licensed cosmetologist, not just to cut hair or give facials, but to help people feel restored in body, mind, and spirit.
But something was missing in the industry I worked in. I noticed that true relaxation, the kind that eases both physical tension and emotional weight, was often treated like a luxury, priced way out of reach for the everyday person. I wanted to change that. I believe self-care should be accessible to everyone, because everyone deserves it!
When I learned about head spa treatments, I was immediately hooked. It felt like the perfect fusion of everything I loved: wellness, pampering, skincare, scalp health, and holistic relief. I trained, practiced, studied, and finally stepped out in faith to start offering head spa services, at a fraction of the cost others were charging.
That’s how my business was born.
I put heart into every single appointment. I listened to my clients. I prayed over my business. And slowly but surely, word started to spread. People didn’t just come for a service but they came for an experience, for peace, for something different.
Being one of the only head spas in the area gave me a unique edge, but it’s the trust and loyalty of my clients that truly built my business. Every returning face and every kind word reminded me why I started this in the first place.
Now, I’m still growing, still learning, and still dreaming. My business is rooted in values that matter to me: family, faith, service, and healing. I homeschool my kids, run my business, and continue to look for ways to serve my community even more, whether it’s through expanding services, mentoring others, or exploring the idea of starting a nonprofit thrift store to reach even more people in need.
This is just the beginning. And I’m grateful for every step that brought me here.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not—it hasn’t always been a smooth road. But I believe the struggles along the way have shaped me, strengthened my faith, and made the victories even sweeter.
The biggest challenge has been balancing everything, and that hasn’t always been easy. I’m a mom of 4 boys who homeschools, I run my business mostly on my own, and I pour a lot of energy into both. There were days I felt stretched thin—emotionally, physically, spiritually. But through it all, I leaned into my purpose. I reminded myself why I started. I prayed through the hard seasons, and I kept showing up for my clients and my family.
It’s also hard being a little different in an industry that can sometimes prioritize image over intention. I’ve had moments of doubt—wondering if I should raise my prices to match others or try to “look” more like a traditional spa. But I’ve chosen to stay true to who I am: grounded, faith-driven, and people-first.
Despite the bumps in the road, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. Every struggle has deepened my commitment and refined my vision. And now, looking back, I can see that even the hard parts were part of the foundation God was laying for something meaningful.
The road hasn’t been smooth—but it’s been worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Awakened Beauty Studio ?
My business is built on a simple but powerful idea: everyone deserves to feel cared for, restored, and seen—without breaking the bank. As a licensed cosmetologist with a deep passion for holistic wellness and stress relief, I specialize in head spas, facials, haircuts, hair color, and intentional stress-relieving treatments.
What sets my business apart is not just the services I offer, but how and why I offer them. I’m one of the only head spas in the area, and I’ve worked hard to create a space where people can unwind, be pampered, and feel completely at ease. From scalp therapy and deep cleansing treatments to customized facials, every experience is designed to bring calm to both the body and the mind.
Affordability is part of my mission. My prices are intentionally set at about a quarter of what other luxury spas charge, because I want self-care to be something accessible—not exclusive. You shouldn’t have to choose between peace of mind and your budget.
I’m proud to say that my business is known for more than just great services. Clients tell me again and again that what keeps them coming back is the way they feel—relaxed, cared for, heard, and truly seen. It’s not just a spa treatment, it’s a soul reset. I’ve created an atmosphere that feels like home—calm, clean, faith-filled, and welcoming.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust people have placed in me. Many of my clients are busy moms, caregivers, and everyday heroes who rarely take time for themselves. It’s an honor to hold space for them—to give them a moment to exhale, be still, and remember their own worth.
At the heart of my business is a deep belief in service—serving people with excellence, kindness, and purpose. Whether someone books a simple scalp massage or a full beauty treatment, they’ll always be treated with genuine care and attention.
How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t about numbers, popularity, or having a booked-out calendar. Although, those things can be part of it. True success is about impact.
It’s when a client walks out of my space lighter than when they came in.
It’s when someone tells me they finally felt peace for the first time in weeks.
It’s when a stressed-out mom, a caregiver, or someone who never takes time for themselves allows me to pour into them and remind them of their worth.
Success is doing what I love in a way that aligns with my values. Faith, family, integrity, and service. It’s being able to offer something genuinely healing to people who might otherwise never experience it. It’s providing high-quality care without making anyone feel like they don’t belong.
It’s also about the quiet victories, being able to homeschool my kids while running a business, staying true to my mission even when it’s hard, and trusting God through every high and low.
At the end of the day, if I’ve made someone feel seen, loved, and renewed, then I’ve succeeded. And if I can keep doing that, consistently and intentionally, then I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
