Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Lazzeri.
Ali, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a woman now in my 50s, I look back at a very eclectic job resume. Teaching at a Montessori school, bookkeeping, working on boats, painting and so many other things. Each job has made an impression on who I am today. And today, I am the owner of two businesses that bring me great joy! I began working with a wedding planner in my early thirties as a way to work from home when my husband and I wanted to start a family. My love for the wedding industry grew and I started my own event-planning company – Blue Heaven Events in 2010. Eventually, I discovered what I love most about a wedding day is the ceremony. In 2017 I decided to only officiate ceremonies and changed the company name to Blue Heaven Ceremonies. There is no greater joy than pronouncing a couple, seeing them kiss, and sending them down the aisle to their future together!
In 2024 I discovered there is a need for Spanish-speaking officiants. I began to look for Spanish classes in the area to build on the Spanish classes I took previously in school. As fate would have it instead, I found a new career in the voice-over industry, I’m excited to use my voice to tell stories, hopefully, one day in Spanish too! Whether it’s a couple’s love story, a documentary, biography, cartoon, or commercial. I believe in the power of voice to inspire, make people, laugh, cry or challenge their thinking. I’m thankful to make a living using my voice in so many amazing ways! Now if only I could get my son to listen to my voice….
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If things were easy, you’d never truly know how much you want it or love it. There’s always challenges. Getting through them proves that you are committed. You’re willing to put in the time, effort, and sacrifice to achieve your goals. My biggest challenge, as it is for a lot of people, was a fear of public speaking. It took a lot of work, practice and experience, but I have no problem now standing in front of 200 guests at a wedding performing a ceremony. The voice-over industry presents different challenges. There are a lot of opportunities, but there are a lot of voice actors too. Trying to stand out in a sea of talent is daunting and I’m having to learn new ways to do that. Getting out of my comfort zone!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m very proud to be a business owner. I’m very organized but very easygoing and flexible. I care (maybe too much?) I’m here to give my clients what they need/want. To help make their life easier. I’m proud to be a wife, a mother and a fur baby mama! I feel I’ve accomplished so much in my life so far and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next!
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One year at Christmas I asked my Dad the question that every parent dreads to answer. Is Santa Claus real? I was really surprised by his answer and I thought it was brilliant. He told me that Santa was real as long as I believed he was real. That has led me to one of my favorite quotes today. “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
