Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Blair White of White Orthodontics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Blair White.

Hi Dr. Blair, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sports was a big part of my life for many years and I had the incredible fortune of playing in the NFL. I think of my time with the Indianapolis Colts like getting a PhD in leadership and team dynamics, except instead of theoretical case studies, my professors were Super Bowl champions. Peyton and Jeff were constant masterclasses in accountability, initiative, and servant leadership. The locker room culture under these veterans taught me about maintaining high standards. Many of the leaders were servant-minded, as I mentioned, and they shaped my understanding of how excellence can be cultivated. Watching Peyton’s obsessive preparation revealed something many business leaders miss– true leadership isn’t about charismatic speeches; it’s about the grueling, unglamorous work nobody sees. P would stay after everyone left, meticulously working through scenarios most quarterbacks never considered. That level of preparation created trust. We try to apply those same principles at White Ortho– the magic happens in the details people rarely notice, yet people can feel the difference. The transformational impact orthodontics has on people’s confidence and self-image serves as our ultimate motivation. Having witnessed countless patients transform from self-conscious to confident, our team understands the profound psychological impact of our work. Beyond just clinical outcomes, creating purpose-driven work gives everyone something meaningful to work for beyond the daily “whirlwind roach stomping” of business operations. “Be an energy faucet rather than an energy drain.” This motto fuels both my drive and our team culture. Every interaction either adds to or depletes the collective energy–a perspective that transforms even routine appointments into opportunities to uplift others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We deal with the same obstacles that everyone else faces. As humans, weʼre all programmed to seek familiarity. We say weʼre after happiness and satisfaction, but we really just fall into what we are used to: our comfort zones. In order to grow, we have to force ourselves out of this every day. We must avoid the self-sabotage of our complacent default-modes. It’s my job to get that out of myself and help my people get comfortable with being uncomfortable. No excuses. No settling.

Our weekly “operational success meetingsˮ challenge us to take customer service from a buzzword to an art form backed by research and science. During these sessions, our team studies and role-plays what excellent service looks and feels like (think Disney hospitality). Role-playing is tough! But we all do it…in an effort to get better and create an environment where we patients feel genuinely cared for rather than “processed”–the difference between transformational and transactional.

Core values: we think about them, discuss them, practice them. They affect our team culture and permeate every aspect of our operation, from how we hire and train to how we recognize achievements and make difficult decisions. Without continued maintenance of our values, we’d just be another dental practice with nice chairs and shiny tools – but with them, we can create a place with clarity, heart, and meaning.

We’ve been impressed with White Orthodontics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’ve become known for creating an atmosphere where exceptional service isn’t delivered through random acts but through consistent, intentional moments that matter all throughout the patient experience. Unlike many medical environments that lack warmth and care, we’ve dedicated ourselves to crafting a space where patients feel safe, welcomed, and valued from the second they walk through our doors.

Beyond the usual orthodontic offerings- straightening teeth with Invisalign or braces, we offer laser gum contouring (sounds fancy, I know, but it’s all about the smile aesthetics), tooth shaping, and professional whitening. For more complicated cases, we coordinate with specialists to make sure our patients have ideal outcomes–which includes healthy, stable bites and of course beautiful smiles.

I think most of our patients would say that we’re known for Invisalign- we certainly do a larger percentage of Invisalign than the average practice and train rigorously on it. While we have established ourselves as the areaʼs premier Invisalign provider, our reputation is expanding beyond clear aligners (Invisalign) and into custom braces. Our incorporation of progressive technology quantifiably improves patient outcomes with more precise treatment planning, shorter treatment times, less in-office appointments, and more predictable outcomes.

White Orthodontics differentiates itself through obsessive attention to psychology and overall experience. Every detail is deliberate—from the words our team uses (and avoids), to the music playing, to considerations of how architecture and design evoke certain feelings. Orthodontics is regarded as one of the top most expensive investments people make for themselves or their children, and while many providers see their facilities as merely functional, we believe in creating the kind of exceptional experience that acknowledges and rewards the patient investment. This purpose-driven approach makes the practice resilient through challenges and creates authenticity. Walking into White Ortho feels different because it is different—not just in aesthetics, but in the underlying values that inform every interaction.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Our commitment to community involvement isn’t treated as a separate marketing initiative. It’s the core of our mission. For instance, our annual sports mouthguard event for local athletes has a broader impact than dental health awareness and concussion prevention. It introduces sports programs to kids and incorporates other local small businesses, which builds relationships and strengthens our community. For us, this perspective transforms “community involvement” from a line item expense into an essential expression of our practice’s values and purpose.

The balance of ambition with purpose stands as a particular point of pride in the White Ortho brand. Unlike many businesses that lose their soul as they grow, maintaining a culture where community involvement is “the work” instead of “a checkbox” creates deeper meaning for everyone involved.
