Meet Jeehan of Modestia Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeehan.

Hi Jeehan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a diverse neighborhood in SW Detroit. From an early age I witnessed community, cultural, and religious pride from the people in the streets that surrounded me. It filled me with love and gave me the confidence to accept myself unconditionally. In large part, that pride and self-love guided me to put on the hijab when I was 15. I want every woman to feel comfortable in her OWN style. In 2006, I traveled and immersed myself in the world of textiles. I started working with a plethora of fabrics and different looks. In 2018, I officially created Modestia Collection to be an extension of the diversity, community, and creative minds I had growing up. We are still a community that promotes and lives on empowerment, empathy, inclusion, style, and diversity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
More often than not, success is not linear. However, whether it be tariffs, COVID, or economic downturn, patience, connection, and innovation are required so that business thrives and our amazing clients are listened to and catered to. Their satisfaction is our number one concern.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Modestia Collection is an extension of the diversity, community, and creative minds that I had in my life growing up in the city of Detroit. We are a community that promotes and lives on empowerment, empathy, inclusion, style, and diversity. We create various pieces such as hijabs, scarves, turbans, and modest wear, which represent Detroit’s eclectic style and diverse community.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the energy, style, diversity, and spirit of Detroit.
