Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Barker.
Camille, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I took a huge leap of Faith, when I left the educational industry, with no back up plan. I didn’t know what my next assignment was. I always knew I wanted to serve people, have fun, and be an entrepreneur; but how? The epiphany came when I was sitting in my living room, and the word Chrysalis came to mind. Chrysalis? Then, I looked it up; and it means transformation! I knew this was my next assignment, because love to plan parties, decorate and look forward to my next conversation, with just about anyone.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth, but I appreciate the encouragement from other successful business owners, uplifting me that in the beginning it will not be a smooth road. You have to be able to accept no’s, maybe’s, yes but just not now. I will admit, it can be a little discouraging, wondering if I was really supposed to be doing this? But, then I remember, it was my Faith in God, and leading of the Holy Spirit, and in his perfect timing, everything will manifest.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I worked in the educational and human services field now, for about 15 years. I enjoyed working with youth, from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and in different walks of life. But, then I had to decide, who am I outside of these 4 walls? I began to take job assignments as a vocational counselor, child welfare, and entry level administration. For me, I can say, divorcing comfort zone sets me a apart from others. I never want my life, testimony, career/business to mimic someone else’s. This truly was a God led, leap of Faith process.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Yes, upper echelon technologies, Clinton Cohen in Jacksonville, FL actually was a huge help in providing mentoring/encouragement/and ideas to help with being a business owner. He actually created and designed the website for Chrysalis Event Planning LLC. The Process Life, who also has a YouTube channel, and one of the founders is a real estate agent, helped me to understand God’s timing, and what it means to wait patiently, for the manifestation of the promises of God. What has worked for me, is understanding, how I am waiting for the promises to unfold, sets the stage for the outcome, of not only just being a business owner, but life in general.
