Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Barber.
Hi Courtney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey began with a deep-rooted belief in holistic living, nurtured by my Ducharme family’s natural lifestyle. Being raised in a home where chiropractic care was the norm shaped my perspective on health and healing from an early age. But it wasn’t until I became pregnant—and began working in an OB office—that my purpose truly crystallized. I witnessed firsthand how many women, especially in birth settings, felt disempowered or uneducated in their medical decisions. That lit a fire in me.
After facing my own health challenges—hormone imbalances, PCOS, the loss of an ovary, infertility, four natural births, and eventually a hysterectomy at age 30 due to untreated endometriosis and PCOS—I knew I was meant to offer something more. The deeply personal journey of motherhood and breastfeeding further confirmed this calling.
Now, as my daughters grow up, I see how common it is for young women to be handed unsafe products for feminine hygiene, to be swept into toxic beauty and skincare trends, pressured into synthetic perfumes, and pushed toward birth control without full education. Watching this unfold has only deepened my conviction to help women of all ages reclaim control over their health and well-being.
I became a certified breastfeeding consultant in 2011, and recently began my journey as a certified holistic doula and a naturopathic doctorate student at the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education. I went on to open Eve’s Garden Wellness—a women-centered clinic rooted in faith, whole-body healing, and education.
Today, I support clients through every season of life—from adolescence to menopause—offering services such as holistic doula care, frequency medicine, and personalized naturopathic advising. I’m also proud to collaborate with a dedicated team of practitioners who offer a range of complementary services, including Reiki, sound healing, massage therapy by a licensed massage therapist (LMT), holistic esthetics, and IV infusions.
It’s been a journey of healing, learning, and serving—and I’m deeply grateful to walk alongside others as they reclaim their health and power naturally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all—but it’s been worth every step.
As a single mother of four, the road has been filled with its own challenges—emotional strain, financial hardship, and the constant feeling of not having enough arms or hours in the day to meet every need. There were times I felt overwhelmed, but I never lost sight of my purpose.
In 2010, my ex-husband was injured in Afghanistan when he was blown up during his deployment. We went through an intense rehabilitation journey to help him regain basic functions, eventually moving back home after he was discharged from the Wounded Warrior Battalion. He still battles inner demons today, but we’re incredibly grateful that he’s here and able to be a father to our kids.
Despite the personal struggles, the business side has been a huge blessing. Eve’s Garden Wellness has thrived thanks to an amazing and supportive community. I’m especially grateful for Taylor at Fit Physique, who has been phenomenal in helping my business succeed. He encourages gym members to use our services, tests our wellness products, and even provides honest reviews. The New Lothrop community support—both near and far—has been everything. I truly couldn’t have done this without them.
I’m currently pursuing my Naturopathic Doctorate at the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education (NITE), which holds classes on weekends. Balancing school with being a single mom of four is no small feat—especially with all the kids’ sports, activities, and needs. Coordinating where they need to be while showing up for my education and my clients is a constant juggling act.
But I’m incredibly thankful for my village of friends and family—especially my moms, Pam and Judy and my boyfriend, Shawn. With their support, we always find a way to make it work.
As you know, we’re big fans of Eve’s Garden Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Eve’s Garden Wellness, we specialize in holistic women’s health—offering personalized support from adolescence through menopause and beyond. Rooted in faith, education, and whole-body healing, our clinic serves as a sacred space where women feel seen, heard, and empowered in their health journeys.
We offer a variety of natural services, including holistic doula care (prenatal, birth, and postpartum), naturopathic consultations, frequency medicine, Christian Reiki, breastfeeding support, and wellness education. In addition, we have an incredible team of trusted practitioners who provide massage therapy—including prenatal massage and cupping—IV infusions, esthetic services, sound healing, and more. This allows women to receive deeply integrative, whole-person care all in one place.
What sets us apart is the heart behind everything we do. We’re not just another wellness clinic—we are a mission-driven space built by a woman who’s lived through the struggles so many of our clients face. From infertility and hormone imbalance to motherhood, loss, and healing—I understand the complexity of the female experience and bring that empathy into every service we offer.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how Eve’s Garden Wellness has become a trusted space in the community. Our clients know they’re getting real, honest, informed care—not just trendy fixes. We believe in equipping women with tools, education, and natural solutions so they can take ownership of their health and feel confident in their bodies.
At Eve’s Garden, we don’t just treat symptoms—we nurture the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe naturopathic health and whole-body wellness are on the rise—and not just as a trend, but as a necessity. With the widespread side effects we’re seeing from processed foods, environmental toxins, EMFs, and even the COVID shot, people are waking up to the reality that conventional systems often mask symptoms instead of addressing root causes. We’re facing epidemic levels of chronic illness, burnout, and hormone imbalances, and people are finally starting to ask: Why?
The future of wellness is about getting back to the basics—nourishing our bodies with real, whole foods, removing harmful additives like dyes and preservatives, and tuning into the wisdom of our bodies instead of ignoring it. We’ve been trained to push past discomfort, to medicate instead of listen, and it’s taken a toll. In many ways, we’re now working to heal bodies that have reached a state of disaster.
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe we’ll see a continued shift toward individualized care, deeper education around the impact of lifestyle and nutrition, and a return to ancestral practices—like the legalization and normalization of raw milk, natural remedies, and toxin-free living. I hope to see more people embracing simple, sustainable habits and trusting their intuition again.
