In 2015, I enlisted in the military, which provided me with a unique perspective on discipline, teamwork, and resilience during my deployment to Afghanistan. Upon my honorable discharge in 2019, I sought to continue my service to the community in a different capacity.
I transitioned into the storm restoration industry, where I have developed expertise in helping property owners navigate the complexities of restoration after severe weather events. Through my efforts, I have successfully saved clients millions in out-of-pocket expenses, ensuring their properties are restored to pre-storm conditions. My journey reflects a steadfast dedication to service, both in the military and in my current role, and I remain committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those I serve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was getting out of my comfort zone and moving 1,200 miles to Dallas, Texas, where I had no family, friends, or finances at the time. This transition was daunting, as I had to start fresh in an unfamiliar city.
The military played a crucial role in shaping my ability to navigate this challenge. It equipped me with valuable soft skills, such as thinking outside the box and effectively solving issues. These skills became essential as I faced the initial struggles of finding stable employment and establishing connections in a new community. While the journey was filled with uncertainties, it ultimately pushed me to grow and adapt in ways I never expected, leading to personal development and a stronger sense of independence.
