Meet JORDAN POMA of Rochester Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to JORDAN POMA.

Hi JORDAN, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into the beauty industry started at a young age through competitive dance—I was always the one helping the other girls perfect their hair and makeup for the stage. That early passion led me to enroll in esthiology school during my senior year of high school, and shortly after, I began the hair program at Douglas J Aveda during my freshman year of college. It was there that I discovered my true love for facials and waxing.

After becoming licensed, I pursued cosmetology teacher training while also working at a brow bar. That experience allowed me to grow professionally and eventually led to a position at a high-end independent spa specializing in speed waxing and medical-grade facials.

With years of experience under my belt, I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream and open my own business. I launched Just Posh Esthetics in a cozy 100 sq. ft. salon suite—right in the middle of the pandemic. Despite the challenges, the business quickly grew thanks to word-of-mouth referrals and fun, creative marketing. I soon brought on another esthetician to keep up with client demand.

At Just Posh Esthetics, our mission is all about helping clients reconnect with their inner beauty, blending results-driven treatments with a warm, welcoming vibe.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a business always comes with its fair share of highs and lows, but the biggest challenge by far was navigating the Covid-19 pandemic. With salons shut down from March to June 2020, there was so much uncertainty—it felt like things were changing week to week, and I had no idea what to expect. It was also a unique challenge being in such close physical proximity to clients, not knowing how each person would feel about face-to-face interactions or who they were comfortable having in their bubble.

Beyond that, there was a steep learning curve in balancing client care with the behind-the-scenes responsibilities—like marketing, bookkeeping, payroll, and everything else that comes with running a business. It was a trial by fire, but also a time of tremendous growth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As an esthetician, I specialize in all things skincare, lashes, waxing, and airbrush tanning. I’m especially known for my nearly painless, lightning-fast Brazilian waxes—clients are in and out in under 15 minutes—and my custom airbrush tans. Both of these services have earned top honors on Click On Detroit within the past five years.

While I genuinely love every service I offer, what I’m most proud of is my ability to help clients feel comfortable and confident, especially during treatments that can leave you feeling a little vulnerable. Creating a safe, judgment-free space is just as important to me as delivering great results.

What were you like growing up?
The competitive nature of dance helped lay the foundation for my success as a business owner. Pushing myself to improve, stay disciplined, and perform at a high level became second nature—and that same drive and work ethic has carried over into how I run my business today.
