Missus Cleaning Services: Transforming Lives by Elevating Spaces

Missus Cleaning Services officially began in April of 2023, born from a mix of passion, purpose, and partnership. The name Missus was inspired from a word that holds deep personal meaning to us—wives. My wife Brandi and I started Missus Cleaning Services as a simple side hustle, a way to bring in extra income while doing something we genuinely enjoyed. We had no idea at the time that what began as helping friends and family tidy their homes would blossom into a mission-driven business that now touches so many lives across West Michigan.

What fueled us in the beginning was witnessing firsthand the impact a clean and organized space had on people—how it could completely shift their mindset, lighten their stress, and give them a fresh start. We found joy in transforming spaces, but even more so in the smiles and relief that came after. That passion quickly became our purpose, and Missus was born.

Through organic marketing, word of mouth, and our hands-on, heart-first approach, we grew our clientele steadily. By October 2024, we had both left our full-time jobs to dedicate ourselves fully to Missus and our mission: to transform lives by elevating spaces.

In that same month, we took our growth to the next level by partnering with Townsquare Media for SEO management and began expanding our online presence—especially through Google Maps. It was time to scale intentionally, while still staying rooted in our values.

From leaving small thoughtful touches to making sure furry family members feel loved too, we’re committed to being the best part of someone’s day.

We’ve come a long way—but we’re just getting started. Our dream is to serve all of West Michigan, not just with cleaning, but with compassion. Each year, we gift a free clean to a mom in need, and we plan to expand this to include NICU families and those undergoing cancer treatments. This is deeply personal to us—our son spent time in both the NICU and PICU, and we know how overwhelming it is to care for a sick family member while also trying to maintain a home. We want to give those families the peace of mind they deserve.

At the heart of Missus is a simple belief: everyone deserves the gift of time and the comfort of a clean, welcoming space. We’re not just cleaning spaces—we’re lifting burdens, spreading joy, and showing up with intention, every single time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many small businesses, one of our biggest challenges early on was finding stability—balancing the demands of getting Missus off the ground while managing both our personal and business finances. Starting from scratch required a great deal of sacrifice, discipline, and unwavering belief in our mission.

We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of our amazing clients throughout this journey. In fact, one of our loyal clients—the Gezon family from Grand Haven—believed in us and our vision so deeply that they became angel investors in Missus Cleaning Services. Their support was more than financial—it was a powerful affirmation that we were on the right path. That investment gave us the momentum we needed to continue growing and expanding our reach in the community.

Staffing has also presented its own set of challenges. Understandably, this line of work isn’t easy—it’s physical, detailed, and requires a true heart for service. Finding the right team members who align with our values and standards has taken time and care. However, we’ve remained committed to building a supportive work environment and a team culture rooted in purpose, not just performance.

Despite the obstacles, every challenge has only reinforced our mission: to transform lives by elevating spaces. And with every hurdle we’ve overcome, we’ve come out stronger, more focused, and even more passionate about the impact we’re creating.

At Missus Cleaning Services, we see the cleaning industry becoming more personalized, more eco-conscious, and more community focused. There’s a growing shift toward sustainable practices, natural products, and customized service options—and we’re proud to already be aligned with that direction.

Over the next 5 to 10 years, we anticipate clients will continue to value services that are not just effective, but also mindful of health and the environment. Technology will likely play a bigger role in streamlining scheduling, client communication, and even how we manage quality control and training. But at the core, we believe that the human touch will always matter most.

As for Missus, we see ourselves hopefully impacting the communities we serve all across West Michigan. Our goal is to continue expanding our reach while staying deeply rooted in our mission to transform lives by elevating spaces.
