Today we’d like to introduce you to TahLeekah Partee-Young
Hi TahLeekah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is TahLeekah Partee-Young and I am an entrepreneur!!!
I would have never predicted that this would be the case for me, but I love being able to use my creativity and do my own thing!!! I have two businesses which include, private practice therapy, and a vendor/maker for natural bath and body products. I have been in the mental health profession for approximately 16 years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A turning point for me happened during COVID, when everyone was quarantined. I remember having a little more time to think, and I recall having a conversation with God, letting Him know that I’d like to become a private practice therapist. Still, I was comfortable with my current employer of 14 years, so I did not immediately take the next steps and sat on that dream for a little while.
But soon, I would encounter challenges that I had not anticipated. As things started to shift in my previous role, I started to become uncomfortable in that same setting. Hindsight, I know this was in God‘s plan, to get me to move on my goal. I can honestly say, that I couldn’t be more happy working in private practice!
We’ve been impressed with Heal-Encourage-Motivate LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed clinical social worker. My journey in the social work profession began in 2006, while employed at one of Michigan’s largest mental health organizations.
While serving in my former role, frequent interactions with clients cultivated a new calling. I would go on to enroll in Western Michigan University, and graduate with her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2010.
I have been in the field as both a generalist and substance abuse counselor for approximately 12 years. I worked in many outpatient settings, facilitating groups, performing assessments and practicing individual therapy. Client populations range from adolescents to adults with chronic mental health and social issues. I also hold a certification in advanced alcohol and drug counseling.
I am currently interested in working with individuals who seek treatment for the following:
-Anxiety
-Depression
-Codependence/boundary issues
-Relationship difficulties
-Major phase of life changes that disrupt normal level of functioning
-Children/Spouse of those with alcohol or substance dependence
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Peace of mind makes me happy! Getting together with my family and friends makes me happy! I also get a lot out of encouraging others to live their best life. In my field, there is no greater feeling!
I believe happiness is a choice, and I have so much to be grateful for!
