Exploring Life & Business with Misty Renee of Skin + Halo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Misty Renee

Hi Misty, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Honestly, Skin + Halo started as a dream that grew quietly inside me for years. I’ve always been drawn to beauty rituals—not just for the results, but for how they make people feel: seen, cared for, restored. I knew I wanted to create a space that felt different from a typical spa or salon… something more intimate, more intentional. A sanctuary where women could fully exhale.

After working in the industry and opening the head spa, I started to notice something deeper: so many women were silently suffering with hair loss, scalp issues, and the emotional weight that comes with it. It wasn’t always something they felt comfortable talking about—and that really stayed with me.

As I listened more and really tuned in to what clients were going through, I felt called to go deeper. That’s what led me to continue my education and dive into scalp health and hair loss solutions—so I could offer more than just relaxation. I wanted to create a space where women feel seen, supported, and cared for in a way that’s both therapeutic and indulgent—rooted in wellness, but wrapped in softness, scent, and beauty.

So Skin + Halo was born—designed to feel like a sacred pause in the middle of a busy life. Every treatment we offer, from our facials to our signature head spa services, is delivered with care, intention, and a bit of magic. It’s been such a beautiful journey so far, and I’m truly grateful for the women who trust us to take care of them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any meaningful journey is ever completely smooth—and Skin + Halo was no exception. When you’re building something that’s deeply personal and a little outside the box, it comes with its own unique set of challenges.

One of the biggest hurdles was simply educating people on what a head spa is. It’s still a relatively new concept here, so there was a lot of explaining to do—especially around the value of scalp care and the connection between relaxation, wellness, and scalp health. But I believed in it wholeheartedly, and I knew once people experienced it, they’d understand.

There were also the behind-the-scenes struggles that come with opening a business—learning how to wear all the hats, navigating logistics, finding the right products and equipment, staying aligned with my vision while still being flexible. And of course, stepping into the role of entrepreneur as a woman can come with its own quiet battles—imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and the pressure to constantly prove yourself.

But every obstacle taught me something—about resilience, about staying grounded, and about the kind of space I want to hold for other women. I wouldn’t trade the hard parts, because they shaped the heart of Skin + Halo.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Skin + Halo is a luxury wellness studio that blends beauty, scalp care, and self-restoration into a one-of-a-kind experience for women. We’re known for our signature head spa treatments—deeply relaxing rituals that focus on scalp health, hair rejuvenation, and full-body calm. But it’s more than that—it’s about creating a space where women can slow down, breathe deeply, and feel completely taken care of.

We specialize in luxury head spa treatments, custom facials, and elevated nail services, all delivered in an intimate, serene environment. Every detail is intentional—from the lighting to the aroma journey to the gentle techniques we use. We don’t just treat symptoms—we support the whole person.

What sets Skin + Halo apart is the way we marry science and softness. We’re results-driven but deeply nurturing. I’m currently continuing my education to become a certified trichologist—a specialist in scalp and hair health—so that I can better support women experiencing concerns like hair thinning, hair loss, or scalp imbalances. Trichology bridges the gap between beauty and health, and this next step will allow us to offer even more targeted support and solutions in a private, safe, and compassionate environment.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the feeling clients get when they walk in—and especially when they walk out. They leave not just looking refreshed, but feeling more grounded, more whole. That’s what Skin + Halo is really about: caring for women in a way that feels sacred, luxurious, and genuinely transformative.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust the quiet pull of your own intuition—even when it doesn’t make sense to anyone else yet. When I first started envisioning Skin + Halo, I didn’t have a blueprint. I just knew how I wanted people to feel when they walked through the door: safe, cared for, transformed. That feeling became my compass, even when the path forward felt uncertain or slow.

I’ve also learned that the beauty industry doesn’t have to be surface-level. There’s so much healing that can happen through touch, care, and presence. Creating a business that honors that—while still offering luxury and results—has taught me how powerful it is to lead with both heart and intention.

And finally, I’ve learned that you don’t have to do things the way they’ve always been done. You get to create something that feels true to you, and when you do, the right people will find it—and feel at home in it.
