Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Michalak

Hi Lauren, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I faced many challenges that were not easy to navigate, and at times, it felt overwhelming. There were moments when I didn’t understand why certain things were happening, but through it all, I held onto my faith in God. I believe that faith has been my foundation, giving me the strength to persevere and find hope even in difficult circumstances. My faith kept me grounded, reminding me that there was a bigger plan, even when I couldn’t see it. I truly believe that God helped me through those tough times, and I’ve carried that sense of trust and hope into every aspect of my life.

For many years I worked extremely hard for others. Constantly going above and beyond, caring tremendously for every job position I held. But I always knew this isn’t what I would be doing forever.

I spent a lot of time praying, seeking clarity, and trusting that God would lead me when the time was right. Eventually, God opened doors and placed the right people and opportunities in my path, and it became clear that starting my own business was part of the journey He had prepared for me.

Today, my business is not just a career but a way for me to serve others and use the talents He’s given me to make a positive impact. I believe that when you trust God with your journey, you’re led in the direction that not only fulfills your purpose but also helps you bless others along the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business from home has definitely presented its own set of challenges, particularly when it comes to balancing work with family life. Early on, it was difficult to establish clear boundaries because everything was happening in the same space. There were times when I found myself working late into the evening or on weekends, thinking I needed to always be ‘on’ to keep things running smoothly. But over time, I realized that without boundaries, I risked burning out and missing out on important moments with my family.

It hasn’t been easy, and I’ve had to adjust as my business has grown, but I’ve learned that it’s all about finding a balance that works for me. By setting boundaries and sticking to them, I’m not only more productive during work hours, but I also have the energy and mindset to enjoy quality time with my family. It’s a constant process of refining and adjusting, but it’s been essential in maintaining both my business and personal happiness.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about House of Lauren ?
House of Lauren is a full service interior design company. We work on a full range of design projects. It can range anywhere from an 8,000 square foot new construction, fully customized home, to as little as a small nursery. When I first started my design company I really wanted to be a design company that could bring professional design to families who might not typically be able to afford it, but still deserved a space that reflected their personality and lifestyle. For me, the value of creating a beautiful, comfortable home is something that should be available to all, not just the privileged. A lot of designers work with only the privileged, and by offering my services to everyone it has made for a very lucrative and fulfilling business.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the key lessons I’ve learned in business is the importance of adaptability. It’s easy to get attached to certain ideas or processes, but the reality is that not everything will work as expected. I’ve realized that success often comes down to being able to assess situations objectively and pivot when necessary.
You have to be willing to make changes in your business, even if it means letting go of an idea you were invested in.
