Meet Amanda Rupprecht of The AR Society – Scalp, Hair, Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Rupprecht

Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for 10 years, completed my education at the Aveda Institute of Tampa Bay Florida, and then made my way back to my home state of Michigan. I assisted and worked in a salon early in my career before moving on and co-opening a salon for four years. I loved every minute of that journey and the amazing team that I was able to work along side. During my time behind the chair, especially since COVID hit a few years back… I started to notice a pattern in my clients. They had concerns about hair thinning, changes in their hair, and even in their overall health that they just couldn’t pinpoint. I saw a lot of scalp and hair issues, including my own hair loss journey after having covid and my second baby. I knew there had to be more out there for me to help my clients, so I began to do my own research. I went on to complete my education through USTI and passed my board exam to become a Board Certified Hair Loss Practitioner through the American Medical Certification Association. In June of 2024 I opened my own practice – The AR Society – Scalp | Hair | Wellness after realizing there was NOTHING like this in the area, and a lack of knowledge and education in the hair world on scalp disease and hair loss. Our hair is often one of the first signs of something going on internally, our health, stress etc. and that’s where I have devoted this chapter of my career. To treat scalp issues and hair loss from a holistic standpoint to find the root cause of what is going on. It fills my cup so much to help people on their hair journey and make them feel good, not only on the inside but the outside too.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
(chuckles). It wasn’t smooth to start. From the beginning, the buildout took a few more months than expected, so I was delayed on an opening date. After I got open, things were smooth rolling, and then found out I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. I wasn’t expecting I’d be sick in the beginning like I was, so building a new avenue in my career while holding in barf all day was probably my biggest struggle. (laughing)

But, in all seriousness… nothing worth having is ever “easy”. Change can be scary, especially in the client based industry, and when it’s something totally new.

However, I am very grateful it really took off, and I am excited what the future will hold. I’ve always been a firm believer that if you don’t try it – you’ll never know, and you’ll probably regret that decision down the road.

Being a wife of a farmer, a mom of 3 littles, and a business owner, I have a lot on my plate, and will always come with certain struggles, it’s just learning how to manage them with Grace as they arise.

What’s really helped me, is I’ve learned to set boundaries. Work when I’m at work, and be present when I’m home. It’s an easy industry to want to be “on” all the time, but that will quickly burn you out.

As you know, we’re big fans of The AR Society – Scalp, Hair, Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Within the studio, I offer a wide variety of holistic scalp and hair treatments, as well as hair loss restoration, at home care products, and hair strand analysis testing.

I believe what sets my practice apart is that it’s new to the area, and you can’t find the services I offer north of the Detroit metro area. Services like Low Level Laser Therapy for hair growth and other topical treatments.

I am most proud of my brand, because it’s a true reflection of my heart and my want to help others in the most natural way I can. It may seem silly to some, but helping people with their hair concerns, and that boost of confidence can be truly life changing for them. I’ve seen so many people struggle, and never get the answers they’re looking for, so if I can be that person for someone, that is why this is personal me.

How do you think about happiness?
I kind of went into that in the last question, but what makes me happiest in this profession is the trust my clients put in my knowledge to help them. How amazing and what a feeling it puts in my heart that these people are picking me to go through their hair journey, whether post partum loss, cancer, genetic loss, or just unexplained thinning… they trust ME to care for them when they could go elsewhere. I think that has always been so humbling and the best part about my career.
