I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Embarking on the journey of establishing a hybrid fitness business—a fusion of online and in-person training—has been anything but smooth. Initially, I engaged a business coach, anticipating a more hands-on, life-coaching approach. However, the reality was quite different; I found myself primarily working with her assistant coach, which left me feeling disconnected from the guidance I had envisioned.

Navigating the complexities of a hybrid business model presented its own set of challenges. The need for continuous revisions and updates became evident, requiring monthly adjustments and, after six months, a comprehensive rebranding to better align with my vision and, I believe, with God’s plan for my life. This process was not just about tweaking services but about a deep, introspective alignment of my professional endeavors with my personal values and aspirations.

The endeavor to write a book while simultaneously launching a business added layers of complexity. Juggling these projects, alongside personal struggles with mental health and marital issues, tested my resilience. There were numerous moments when giving up seemed like the easier path. Yet, I felt a persistent, gentle redirection—a sense that I was being guided toward a purpose beyond my understanding.

Embarking on the path to authorship and public speaking has been a profound journey of self-discovery and fulfillment. Initially, I grappled with feelings of inadequacy, questioning my qualifications and readiness to share my story and insights. These sentiments are common among writers and speakers; Mel Robbins, a renowned motivational speaker and author, has openly discussed her struggles with self-doubt and how she overcame them to embrace her role as a speaker. Recognizing that these feelings are a natural part of the creative process has empowered me to move forward, embracing my voice and the unique perspective I bring.

Collaborating with my husband on rental properties and planning retreats for women managing PCOS aligns deeply with my sense of purpose. Together, we are developing spaces that offer more than just accommodation; they are sanctuaries for healing and connection. Our vision includes hosting retreats 1-2 times per year, specifically designed for women navigating the challenges of PCOS. These retreats aim to provide a holistic experience, combining nutritional guidance, enjoyable physical activities, and therapeutic practices focused on nervous system regulation. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare nourishing meals, engage in comfortable and effective movement routines, and participate in activities that promote inner peace and emotional well-being. This initiative is inspired by programs like Emersion Intensives, which emphasize actionable strategies for managing PCOS through lifestyle choices, including nutrition and stress management. By integrating my personal experiences with professional knowledge, I aim to create a supportive environment where women can reconnect with their bodies, find community, and embark on a journey of healing and empowerment.

These endeavors are not just projects; they are manifestations of my calling. Despite initial doubts and challenges, the excitement and fulfillment I derive from them affirm that I am on the right path—one that aligns with my passions and my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a bundle of energy and curiosity. As an all-season athlete, I thrived on the hustle, juggling multiple extracurriculars while running on just 4-5 hours of sleep. I loved being outside—whether it was by the lake, on the beach, or wandering through the woods, nature was my happy place. I found joy in time spent with animals, my friends, and family, and those connections always grounded me.

Academically, I wasn’t the “traditional” student. Instead of getting lost in textbooks, I’d skim through the “important parts” and rely on SparkNotes to ace the tests. Despite my laid-back approach, I was reading at a college level by 5th grade. The school library didn’t excite me much—except for A Series of Unfortunate Events. The Baudelaire orphans and their wild, unpredictable adventures mirrored my own restless spirit.

I was always seeking the next challenge, the next adventure, and the next opportunity to learn and grow. I was that kid who couldn’t sit still, always chasing the next thrill, always moving forward.

Creatively, I had a deep love for music and the arts. I played several instruments, and in my younger years, I thrived in show choir and theater, singing, dancing, and performing. But as I got older, school call hours and limited electives meant I had to choose, so I stopped performing but carried that creative energy with me. I kept notebooks—tons of them—under my bed, constantly writing. Whether I was journaling about my life and experiences or turning my thoughts into songs and poems, I was always expressing myself in creative ways. It’s no surprise to me now that I’m writing a book—it feels like I’ve been building up to this for years.

But life took a sharp turn when I lost my brother at 14 to a drug overdose. Addiction had always been a shadow in our family, and that tragedy hit hard. Everything changed. My friendships shifted, my interests evolved, and I found myself reaching for comfort in all the wrong places. It wasn’t long before I was struggling with my own battles with addiction through high school and college. I withdrew from college, citing “health issues,” but deep down, I was running from the chaos I was facing internally. In high school, I had been ahead of the game—completing AP classes, dual enrollment programs, and gearing up to graduate early. But by the time college came, I felt lost.

I changed my major a few times, landing on Behavioral Neuroscience, a field that fascinated me—understanding the brain, behaviors, and how trauma shapes us. But after completing my studies, I still wasn’t sure what to do with it. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later that I realized how deeply connected my experiences with trauma, health, and addiction were to the very work I wanted to pursue. I’m now more certain than ever: I’m ready to dive into a degree focused on behavioral neuroscience and trauma, to better understand the mind-body connection and how to help others heal.

My journey has been anything but linear, but every twist and turn has shaped who I am today. I’m learning to embrace the messiness of it all—the pain, the growth, the challenges—and I wouldn’t change a thing. Because it’s this story that drives my passion for helping others find strength in their own healing, to reclaim their health, their sense of self, and their path forward. And it’s this same story that fuels my desire to write, to share, and to connect with others through my words.
