Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter O’Connor
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started the journey into holistic and spiritual healing around the age of 14 when my mother took me to see an intuitive who gave me some language around what I had always known. She told me there was a whole world of energy and spirit and connection to divinity available to us. After this, I started seeking more wisdom, more teachers, and more practices to connect more deeply with my intuitive gifts, and more ways to heal myself. This journey took me all over the world, where I spent time with many teachers from different cultural backgrounds. After years of doing the work for myself, I began to feel the call to share what had created miracles in my own life with others. I started with the sacred plant, Cacao, or raw chocolate, and put out a call to women looking to heal their nervous systems, connect with their bodies, and release lifetimes of trauma while sipping the best chocolate on earth. Women came by the hundreds to my monthly gatherings to receive the magic. I continued learning and adding tools to my toolkit. I never stopped showing up for my own work. Eventually, the cacao gatherings outgrew the space I had created in my home, and I slowly let go of them. But I knew I wasn’t done. Shortly after, I met my husband, and we began to offer support to couples using the tools that we use in our own relationship to stay deeply connected. We toured all over the state of Michigan with our Couples Connection Ceremony and were beautifully received. At the end of our tour, and after 15 years of practicing in the healing space, I received the opportunity to open a holistic healing center, Hive Holistic Center, in my beloved Flint, Michigan.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not! I have experienced so many traumas, which is why I am here. I have had to heal myself, and learn to love myself and life again and again. Sharing the methods that have worked for me is what I do with others. I have been sexually assaulted, physically and mentally abused, lost people I considered to be friends, suffered miscarriages, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and endured a spinal break and a cervical cancer diagnosis. I’ve also had to deal with community members and landlords calling me names like “witch,” “cult leader,” and saying that I am sleeping with my clients. When you decide to walk the path of serving humanity, there is always going to be huge resistance brought against you from many places you dont expect.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Hive Holistic Center is a sacred safe space for our community to grow, heal, connect & play. You should know that I wasnt looking to build a healing center, and I certainly wasnt going to build it in Flint, even though I have such a deep love and connection to this place and its people. I couldve done this in so many other communities and easily charged premium prices for the massive value that I bring. But spirit lead me and I followed. And flint deserves this kind of space. Needs this kind of space. So much more healing than I imagined has happened despite it all. I specialize in ancient and holistic healing modalities aimed to release trauma, reprogram limiting beliefs, and heal the body, mind, and spirit. Im known for being a divine and authentic momma who is always willing to offer love to anyone who needs it, and love is the most powerful healer of all. What sets me apart is that Im not doing this to wear the cool goddess clothes, or for clout, or for money, or to sound like all the other “healers” who use flowery language. I do what I do because its what ive always been. I do what I do because I came here to serve humanity. To show another way. Im different because Im authentic. And I walk the walk everyday, I practice what i “preach”. Im most proud of the fact that I havent wobbled on what I came to share just because there’s so many working against us, so many saying it wont work, how will we make it, why dont we just go somewhere where theres plenty of people who can pay what we’re worth? We offer low-cost and no-cost events regularly to the deeply underserved people of Flint. And no, we’re not making much financial gain. But we are changing lives by showing up from a heart-centered place. We dont turn away people willing to show up for their own healing based on if they have enough money or not. Everyone deserves a safe space, a hug, someone who will believe they can heal, wipe their tears, and just…LOVE them.

Nature. Always. Connecting with our precious earth clears my mind and fills my cup so that I can continue to give as much as I do. I also have a daily cacao ritual to support my heart and my hormonal system. The emerald podcast always gives life back to me in the way it truly helps me feel understood and not alone on this path. My deepest resources, though, are the ones who love me. My family, my friends, my teachers and mentors. I also think its important to say here that I am resource of love and healing to myself through my constant connection with life, god, source, or whatever you might call it.
