Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodrigo Avanse
Hi Rodrigo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had a passion for photography, and for several years, it was just a hobby, something I enjoyed doing in my free time. My background, however, is in engineering. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and spent over 20 years working in the automotive industry.
In June 2024, I decided to turn my love for photography into a side gig, focusing on real estate media. As I gained experience and my business grew, I realized this was something I wanted to pursue full-time. In January 2025, I took the leap and committed fully to running my own business.
I specialized in real estate photography, offering services like virtual staging, 2D and 3D floor plans, and video production. I also obtained my drone certification, which allowed me to offer aerial photography and videography, adding a whole new dimension to my work.
I’m always looking for ways to innovate, whether by creating engaging city highlight videos with drone footage and voiceovers or refining my techniques to showcase properties in the most compelling way. I also enjoy sharing my expertise, whether by helping real estate professionals optimize their listing presentations or offering photography tips to those looking to improve their skills.
It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me next!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, mine has had its challenges. Transitioning from a 20+ year career in the automotive industry to running my own real estate media business full-time was a big shift. At first, balancing my side gig with my full-time job was tough, I had to manage my time carefully while building my client base and refining my services.
When I went full-time in January 2025, one of the biggest struggles was establishing a steady flow of clients. Real estate is a competitive industry, and standing out required not just great work but also strong networking and marketing efforts. Learning the business side of things, from pricing my services correctly to handling contracts and finances, was another challenge.
Weather and scheduling conflicts also play a role in real estate photography, especially with drone work. Michigan’s unpredictable weather can make planning shoots tricky, and last-minute listing changes from agents mean staying flexible and adaptable.
Despite the challenges, I’ve embraced the learning process. Each obstacle has pushed me to improve, whether by enhancing my skills, refining my workflow, or finding new ways to market my services. It hasn’t always been smooth, but the journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited to keep growing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business specializes in high-quality real estate media, helping agents, brokers, and property owners present their listings in the best possible light. I offer professional real estate photography, aerial drone photography, video tours, and marketing materials like 2D and 3D floor plans. My goal is to create visually compelling content that not only showcases properties effectively but also helps my clients attract buyers and close deals faster.
What sets my business apart is my engineering background and attention to detail. With over 20 years in the automotive industry, I bring a technical and problem-solving mindset to my work, ensuring precision in every shot and every project. I also understand the fast-paced nature of real estate, so I prioritize quick turnaround times without sacrificing quality.
I take pride in offering a personalized approach, working closely with real estate professionals to understand their needs and tailor my services accordingly. Whether it’s a luxury home that needs cinematic video, a cozy listing that benefits from virtual staging, or a large property that requires stunning aerial shots, I make sure every listing stands out.
My goal is to not just capture properties but to tell a story that resonates with buyers.
Ultimately, my brand is about quality, reliability, and innovation. I want clients to know they can count on me for top-tier visuals that enhance their marketing efforts. I love being part of the real estate process, and I’m excited to continue growing and evolving to serve my clients even better.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One surprising thing that most people might not know about me is that my background is actually in engineering. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and spent over 20 years working in the automotive industry before transitioning into real estate media full-time.
Another surprising fact is that real estate media started as a side gig. In June 2024, I took on projects while still working full-time, and by January 2025, I made the decision to fully commit to my business. It was a big change, but it’s been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made.
