Community Highlights: Meet Porsha Elliott of Colossal Tax Solutions/ Colossal Education

Today we’d like to introduce you to Porsha Elliott

Hi Porsha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Porsha Elliott and I am CEO/Founder of Colossal Tax Solutions, and Colossal Education. I started in the financial field since 2016. I was an Operations Manager for Liberty Tax running 3 of there locations for 2 years. I eventually branched out independently doing taxes with other tax firms. March 2022 I started my own Colossal Tax Solutions. I was so scared and nervous but all I have been doing in the tax business I knew this was my path to stand alone and be successful. I got my tax educator credentials through Liberty Tax so I began teaching classes of my own to build my own team. This is prompted me to start Colossal Education. Three years later and Colossal Tax Solutions have doubled with employees and tripled in clientele. We serve all 50 states and have employees on the east coast, Midwest, down south and west coast. I also now coach and teach trainings for up and coming other tax firms. I enjoy teaching and coaching others in the tax industry so much to continue to learn. I am a certified member of the National Society of Tax Professionals. I am a Tax Advocate that can be hired for tax representation in tax court. I love what I do and helping clients be at ease during tax season and getting them the right refunds. My team are phenomenal we have 32 Tax Preparers and 5 Administrators that are available 7 days a week. We will be opening a location in Dallas and in Chicago season 2026. We launch our first tax tour Summer 2025.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it haven’t been a smooth road at all. When joining a tax firm you have to be very cautious if you are working with. My first time under someone I dealt with no help really. I really was on my own didn’t have much coaching so I had to learn a lot and just knew what I learned from Liberty Tax prior to be alone. Then the second firm I joined it was a lot of financial issues. This person took advantage of me not being too knowledgeable about the back end of things and banking. All these experiences helped me develop into the coach and owner I was going to be to my tax firm. I learned from these experiences to make sure no one felt how I felt being under someone in the industry. I had some employees I thought would be with me for awhile that walked away but I learned not to take things personal.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Colossal Tax Solutions is a specialized tax preparation service provider. We assist clients in preparing accurate tax returns and obtaining maximum refunds, including all eligible credits. Although not all clients receive refunds, we strive to minimize their tax debt by leveraging all applicable credits. Our team’s expertise encompasses personal tax returns, while I specialize in business and corporate returns. What sets us apart from other tax firms is our unwavering reliability. We attract numerous clients who have been left without support by their previous tax preparers. I take immense pride in my team’s dedication to not only securing refunds but also educating clients. Our comprehensive services extend beyond tax preparation to include credit repair, notary services, real estate, and more. We also have Colossal Education were we coach, train, teach those who want to join the tax industry as well as help those that are already in the industry as well.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was into everything lol. I was born and raised in Englewood area of Chicago, IL. In school so was into debate so I figured that’s what my career would be a lawyer. Then the older I got it was about teaching. I did a lot of career changes before finding my nitch. I have also had a talkative personality can talk someone ear off about anything. I always been a people pleaser which as we know is a gift and curse. My greatest traits where sometimes my own enemy. Got to know when to turn or and off something’s lol.
