Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernard Lewis
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Saint is a Detroit-based creative powerhouse, excelling as a graphic artist, tattoo artist, clothing designer, and architect. At 32, he has carved out a significant presence in these fields, known for his ability to blend urban culture, spiritual symbolism, and modern design. His innovative approach has earned him sponsorships from @bisibita2 and @sodmgbrand, further solidifying his influence in the art and fashion scenes.
Born and raised in a rough part of Upsate,Ny Saint had to fight through his own fair share of adversity. From seeing drug use, fights, and gun violence growing up as a kid Saint always knew he would have be unique and special to make it out of such a dark place. Being directly inspired by street art, graffiti, murals, and tattoos Saint peaked his interest in art and drawing at a very young age separated him from what most want to acquire as just a skill while he had stumbled upon a spiritual gift.
Saint’s work is a testament to his versatility, from groundbreaking streetwear designs to architecturally inspired spaces that challenge conventional norms. His artistry reached a new pinnacle with his first solo exhibit, “Divine Transmutations: A Perspective on Saint in Modern Art,” showcased at Abstrakt Studio in Brooklyn during New York Fashion Week.
Along Saint’s journey he has traveled the world and met so many amazing artists. He has built wonderful relationships with endless celebrity clientele and he enjoys teaching and inspiring the next generation of youthful creatives.
This exhibition marked a defining moment in his career, highlighting his ability to transcend traditional boundaries and positioning him as a true modern Renaissance man.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me at all but I pride myself in that. If it was easy it’s probably not even worth having to be honest. There were so many times I wanted to quit and give up. To being a victim of home invasion being homeless and not having anything to reset and start over that stuff builds your character.
Even relational breakups to having to go on hiatus away from art for a year because of being stabbed! There were so many things that could have made me quit my story just wasn’t finished yet.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My artwork captures a lot of emotion and sentimental value. Being that I do alot of portraits which is something I specialize in I’m usually trying to impact someone in a major way. My pieces embody human nature of love laughter and even pain and tears at the same time I try to give people a lasting memory they can cherish for a life time and that’s what truly sets me apart from my peers.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I honestly don’t believe in luck at all I believe in faith and prayer and hard work. All those things play a factor in my success. I feel like when you genuinely have a good heart posture towards what you do all the good things your heart desires will manifest. You just have to believe it will happen. Most people are wired to think about the bad that happens but that’s life we can only control what we can control.
