Inspiring Conversations with Jamie Noyes of Jamie Lynn Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Noyes

Hi Jamie , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always have loved photography. In high school, I was on the yearbook staff and always had a camera with me. I learned on film DSLRs, but it’s always trial and error and no editing involved. After I had my son in 2007 and started playing around again after taking time out for college, using him as my subject. Then, I had my daughter in 2010, and a year after she was born, I started my business. I have worked to perfect things, even on digital media. Over the years, almost 14 years in business, I have grown so much and photographed so many babies! It’s been such a blessing to be able to do what I love! I was a Physical Therapist Assistant for almost 15 years and did both jobs for quite a while until I could quit that PTA job. In January 2017, I got a big girl studio downtown and have continued growing from there! My work is hanging in 3 hospital labor and delivery floors and 2 OB offices. I have clients anywhere from 20 minutes to over 3 hours away! It’s pretty awesome to have clients travel so far! I feel very blessed!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has NOT been a smooth road. The lack of not knowing what your income will be from day to day, week to week, month to month, is stressful! The ever changing trends for photography and keeping up can be challenging. Currently, my bookings are minimal, and this is very odd. So, I am taking this time to do some other things and to learn and grow!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a maternity, newborn, and child photographer. Newborn is what I am mostly known for! I am proud of the business I have created, and I have my own style and editing style. I am an all-inclusive studio, so I provide everything for the sessions, which many moms love as it takes the guesswork out of “what to bring.” I have a look that I like to stick to, which sets me apart from others. I enjoy the creative side of this job and appreciate it when parents allow me to take complete control of a session! I am proud of my background as a PTA; this gave me a lot of medical and anatomy knowledge, so if a newborn arrives that may have oxygen tubes, post-heart surgery, or even a broken bone, I know I can still safely photograph that newborn!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I am as old as I am! lol
