Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Patterson
Hi Eric, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Jen and I started cooking together about 21 years ago at Andre’s French Restaurant that was in Las Vegas. While at Andre’s we got to talking about how well we work together and decided to open a restaurant. Jen was raised in Traverse City, so she suggested we open on here because she believed the area had everything we were looking for. In 2008 we opened the Cooks’ House with the intention of using as much of the locally grown and produced products that are found in Michigan generally, and Northern Michigan more specifically.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s a resturant, of course it has been a bumpy road.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Both Jen and myself are chefs by trade. We were just nominated for best chefs in the Great Lakes region for a James Beard Award, and we earned a Michelin star in Las Vegas.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
We learned how important community is.
