Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Dodson

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up I always loved photography, constantly snapping pics of everyone & everything; my bedroom walls were covered in photos. It wasn’t until my 30’s when I started thinking about making a business out of it. Covid was the time I made my decision to give it a shot, I bought a camera & laptop and never looked back!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is always filled with challenges. When I started, I had to teach myself everything about photography—I didn’t know anything about camera settings or how to use them effectively. On top of that, I faced the challenge of putting myself out there and earning people’s trust to capture the most precious moments of their lives!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Hi, I’m Ash! I’m a photographer based in Metro Detroit, specializing in high school senior, maternity, and family photography. I also have a passion for sports photography, as well as capturing couples, engagements, and hopefully weddings in the near future! I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come and grateful I never gave up. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Ash Cherie Photography!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve found it incredibly valuable to follow other photographers’ journeys, and joining photography groups has been an amazing source of support, knowledge, and inspiration.
