Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Lucas
Hi Jade, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was in highschool, I knew I had a love for cosmetology when the girls on my cheer team would ask me to do their makeup for competitions or even school dances! When I graduated, I attended university for a year. After, I moved back to my hometown and started at the community college. I didn’t mind college but it wasn’t for me. Ive always loved making people feel good about themselves & that’s when I decided that cosmetology school was my calling. I started cosmetology school in July of 2024 and I knew I was doing the one thing I loved most!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh there were definitely some struggles! I was only in school for about two weeks before we experienced a building fire. We lost everything. Our building, mannequins & personal items. Going through this situation first hand was hard because I was finally doing the thing that I loved most. The staff did a great job keeping us as updated as possible but they didn’t know much either. It was hard for us as students & It was just hard for them as staff. After 5 long months, we’re finally back in school. Were unfortunately not in the same building, but that’s okay! We’re back in classes again & learning our new normal!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Im working on becoming a cosmetologist! I plan to specialize in vivid hair color, makeup artistry & eyelash extensions! As of right now in my journey, I’m most proud of taking the leap to pursue the career path that I love! I think the thing that sets me apart from others is my devotion & my positive attitude! I’m very confident with the career path I chose & that means I’ll have confidence when doing your hair and makeup!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I’ve learned to be myself and not base myself around what others think, say or do.
