Today we’d like to introduce you to M’kiyah Roquemore

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is M’kiyah Monae i’m 21 years old. I reside in Detroit Michigan. I am a former student of Eastern Michigan where I attended for 1 year studying business. But due to financial reasons I was unable to complete my courses. When i left i didn’t know what i was going to do. I knew that i immediately needed a job and money to provide for myself. At the age of 18 I applied to become a leasing consultant following the footsteps of my Uncle who was a property manager. Started working for Beacon management as a leasing consultant for one year ,at the age of 19 I then transferred to a different property and was later promoted to an assistant property manager after a year of working there. I really enjoy what I do because It consist of me helping others daily. I love that i am able to meet new people each and everyday. I love that i’m working somewhere that is a professional setting and it allows me to learn from others. I’m happy i didn’t give up after college because working in the field has taught me a lot about life. It helped me to become confident within myself and not afraid to speak up. My advice to others is If you feel like you want to give up because certain situations are not working out for you. Keep going and do whatever it takes to become a better you.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The challenges I faced was me not meeting a certain quota. At first I was not confident as I am now. But with the advice from others it helped boost my confidence. Working with a supportive team it helped me reach my quota and boost my communication skills, and my work ethic. Which led me to the position that i am in now as a assistant property manager.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
