Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Bee
Hi Bianca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started at 17 when I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles with a single goal in mind: to pursue my passion for filmmaking. While studying at film school, I was fortunate enough to gain hands-on experience working with major networks and brands like The Oprah Winfrey Network, TMZ, VH1, E! News, and The Steve Harvey Show. These experiences laid the foundation for my next big leap to New York City, where I became a Booking Producer for The Mel Robbins Show, Nick Cannon’s Daytime Talk Show, and Sports & Weather.
At 19, I felt an urge to create something of my own, and that’s when I launched The Bianca Bee Show. It was a platform I built to highlight young entrepreneurs and provide a voice for emerging talent in the media industry. Interviewing celebrities, public figures, and entrepreneurs gave me a front-row seat to the power of storytelling and how it can inspire others. But it didn’t stop there. At 20, I took another bold step and founded The Bianca Bee Foundation, a nonprofit designed to provide at-risk youth and young women with the tools and opportunities to build better futures.
Writing has always been another way for me to connect with others. I’ve self-published three books: The 20’s Chronicles, a personal reflection on navigating adulthood, Plot. Plan & Slay., a guide to taking control of your life, and Resting Bee Face, which empowers those who feel misunderstood in an industry that often misrepresents them.
While my roots are deeply embedded in film, my passion for beauty and self-expression—especially when it comes to uplifting women—led me to create BFF Cosmetics. The brand is all about celebrating diversity and empowering women of all backgrounds to feel beautiful, confident, and unapologetic.
As a proud Detroit native, giving back to my community is something that drives me. It’s been incredibly rewarding to collaborate with top brands like Galore, Rolling Out, Ipsy, Fenty Beauty, and WhoSay, and to receive recognition like the “Young Entrepreneur Award” from the Small Marketing Business Association.
Through every project, venture, and challenge, my mission has always remained the same: to inspire others to live boldly, authentically, and fearlessly. The journey is never linear, but I’m grateful for every step of the way and excited for what’s ahead.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s part of the beauty of the journey. Every step, challenge, and setback has shaped me into who I am today. When I first moved to Los Angeles at 17, I was just a kid with big dreams and no real understanding of how tough the entertainment industry. I faced a lot of rejection early on, which was disheartening, especially when you’re working in an industry where everyone has a story of “making it.” But those early struggles taught me resilience. I had to learn how to push through disappointment, how to network, and how to be resourceful.
Starting my own talk show at 19 was another leap that came with its own set of challenges. Building a platform from scratch, especially as a young woman in an industry dominated by bigger players, wasn’t easy. I had to wear multiple hats—everything from booking guests to handling the logistics and investing my own money. But I learned a lot about business, branding, and what it takes to stay consistent.
When I launched The Bianca Bee Foundation, I was still figuring out how to manage a nonprofit while juggling other projects. Fundraising, building partnerships, and getting people to believe in the cause was no small feat. And then, writing three books wasn’t exactly smooth sailing either. The creative process can be so isolating at times, and self-publishing came with its own challenges, from marketing to distribution. But every single obstacle taught me something invaluable about perseverance, patience, and how to use my voice to make an impact.
Now with BFF Cosmetics, I’m facing a whole new set of challenges. The beauty industry is incredibly competitive, and as a smaller, independent brand, getting noticed is an uphill battle. But I love that I’ve had to learn every aspect of it—branding, product development, e-commerce—so it’s been incredibly fulfilling, even if it’s been hard at times.
At the end of the day, I’ve learned that growth often comes from the struggles. Without those tough moments, I wouldn’t have learned the lessons that have propelled me forward. The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What I do is all about creating platforms, products, and stories that empower people—particularly young women and marginalized groups. My work spans across several industries: media, nonprofit, beauty, and publishing. But at the core of everything I do, the common thread is my mission to inspire, uplift, and give people the tools to succeed.
I specialize in building brands and creating opportunities for others to shine. I also specialize in media and storytelling, having worked as a booking producer, interviewer, and talk show host. My experience in film and television has given me a unique ability to connect with diverse audiences and elevate voices that might otherwise go unheard.
In terms of what I’m known for, I’d say it’s a combination of my entrepreneurial spirit and my focus on authenticity. I’ve always been passionate about shining a light on young entrepreneurs and pushing boundaries in media. Whether through my talk show, The Bianca Bee Show, or my books—The 20’s Chronicles, Plot. Plan & Slay., and Resting Bee Face—I’m known for being transparent and real. I write and speak about the struggles and triumphs of navigating adulthood, the media industry, and the pursuit of success, with a focus on making people feel seen and heard.
What I’m most proud of is how everything I’ve built ties back to helping others. Being able to empower someone to change their life is the ultimate reward.
Another thing that sets me apart is my ability to juggle multiple creative ventures while staying true to my values. Whether I’m producing content, writing books, building a beauty brand with BFF Cosmetics, or partnering with major brands. I always aim to make sure that whatever I create has a positive impact. There’s a distinct focus in everything I do on authenticity, representation, and using my platform to push the needle forward in ways that matter.
What truly sets me apart, though, is my passion for blending media, beauty, and empowerment. I don’t just see beauty as skin deep; I see it as a reflection of confidence and self-expression. I want to help people feel as empowered on the inside as they look on the outside. It’s all about cultivating the confidence to slay in every area of life—whether that’s in business, beauty, or personal growth.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Taking risks has been a huge part of my journey, and honestly, I don’t think I’d be where I am today without embracing them. When I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles at 17, that was the first major risk I took. I was leaving everything familiar—my family, my friends, my comfort zone—and stepping into a completely unknown world. I didn’t have a safety net, and I wasn’t sure if I would make it in a city that seemed to have endless competition and opportunity. But I knew that if I didn’t take that leap, I’d always wonder “what if.”
I’ve always viewed risk as an opportunity to grow. Sure, it’s scary and uncomfortable, but without those moments of discomfort, you don’t learn. That move to LA set the tone for how I’ve approached risk throughout my career. Whether it was starting The Bianca Bee Show at 19, self-publishing my first book at 20, or founding The Bianca Bee Foundation—each one of those decisions came with a fair amount of uncertainty. There were definitely moments where I questioned if I was crazy, especially when things didn’t go as planned. But every time I faced doubt, I reminded myself that the best things rarely come without some level of risk.
But the risk was worth it because it aligned with my mission to empower women through beauty and self-expression, and it allowed me to bring something unique to the table.
I don’t always think of myself as a “daredevil” risk-taker; I like to think of it more as calculated risk. I weigh the pros and cons, consider the potential rewards, and trust my instincts. But at the end of the day, I understand that risk is just part of the journey, and it’s essential for growth. The key is not letting the fear of failure paralyze you. Even if you fall short, there’s always something to learn, and that lesson can often lead to even greater opportunities down the road.
Risk is also about trusting yourself and your ability to figure things out along the way and learning how to pivot. In fact, some of my biggest risks have paid off precisely because I trusted myself enough to take them. I may not always know the exact path, but I know I have the grit and determination to navigate whatever comes my way. So, to me, risk is an essential ingredient to success—it’s not about being reckless; it’s about being willing to step outside your comfort zone to achieve something bigger than what you have today.
