Check Out Adrianna Lucas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrianna Lucas

Hi Adrianna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been a creative, artsy individual. I’ve always loved art, abstract art to be exact. I remember saying that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up but I never thought my love for drawing and painting would turn into my passion for Makeup.

Being a self-taught makeup artist, learning to master my craft, working with different products, and educating myself on skin preparation and techniques hasn’t been a cakewalk but most definitely a journey I have TRULY enjoyed.

Because I love learning new things, it makes a world of difference in my results when doing my client’s makeup. You can tell when someone is just doing something because they have to verse when they want to and enjoy doing it. Client satisfaction has always been my number one priority.

After years of mastering my craft, I started to get several compliments from family, friends, and even strangers who’d see me out and ask where I got my makeup done. When they found out I was the artist, it was uphill from there.

2018 is the year I started putting myself out there, accepting clients, consultations, and more. I have done makeup for proms, weddings, bridal showers, and everyday looks.

I am currently taking on new clients and pushing my social media presence to share my work with others, even inspiring others to learn how to do their makeup if they’d like.

I love making other women feel good, even if it’s just for a day, I love the smiles I see every time a client leaves my chair and this is why I do what I do and LOVE what I do.

I have this saying that rings true to me Makeup is My Form of Art, and that’s how Makeup by Moniquee’ Adri, became what it is today!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes, there absolutley were some struggles/challenges along the way. The learning curve (which is to be expected) was the biggest challenge.

That’s how you master your craft you have to keep practicing, so learning how to use various tools, techniques, and products was challenging but something I enjoyed, simply because I love learning new things. I get excited when I learn something new Lol

This learning curve doesn’t only apply to the act of doing makeup. Learning the technology and editing software to create content and tutorials to push my social media presence was challenging as well.

Next, there was the struggle of work-life balance and trying to juggle both when my children were much younger. We all have seasons in life when we have to pause the things we love for our family and I had that moment. Trying to make time to push my business and myself to be available for clients when they need me.

Lastly, self-doubt, and having impostor syndrome didn’t help in the beginning stages of my journey. Because I’m such a perfectionist if things didn’t look the way I wanted them to, I wouldn’t move forward with it and it took me years to put myself out there because of that. But the moment I started to acknowledge my accomplishments, stop comparing my craft to others, and practice self-compassion it changed my view on those “imperfections” that were holding me back. I just had to trust the process and do it. Say yes, take a chance on me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Makeup Artist. I specialize in full glam, bridal, prom, creative, seasonal/festive, and everyday makeup looks.

I am most proud of how far I have come in my journey. I think that my customer service and my personality sets me apart from others. I love to give all of my new clients welcome gifts for their first appointment and they love it!!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I wish I had a good answer for this, but I don’t. I do believe that we need mentors, everyone needs mentors and I am currently looking for a mentor for myself. It’s nice to have someone you can bounce ideas off of and seek guidance in the industry you are in. But that’s why I surround myself around like-minded individuals, entrepreneurs who have growth mindsets and always thinking of ways to expand. The same tools and techniques can be applied in any industry if you do the work.

As far as networking, the best form is word of mouth and if you do great work, People will network for you 🙂 Word of mouth goes a long way.
