Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Muncy
Hi Adam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Samson’s started with a modified rice cooker and a product that wouldn’t wash out. There weren’t any distributors serving our area so our product exposure was limited. But Jake believed that I was the right partner one day when I was getting my hair cut. From there, we went door to door selling our pomades to any and every salon and barber shop in Michigan. Since then, things have gotten a lot more complicated with a team of reps and products in about 1,500 retailers in the US and Canada.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been anything but a smooth road. We’ve had hiccups from outgrowing our spaces to finding specialized equipment. Since we are a CPG based company, financing the growth can be troublesome when we have to buy all the ingredients and components before selling our finished goods.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Samson’s Haircare is a company more than a brand. We formulate and produce all of our products in house. In this way, we are much more like a craft beer company than a hair products brand. We say everything is CRAFTED WITH PURPOSE in that it is all handcrafted and serves a higher purpose. Jake and I are both foster parents and even have a specific line dedicated to supporting kids in foster care.
How do you define success?
Defining success is a difficult task, but we get so much satisfaction seeing our products in person used by people we’ve never met.
