Rising Stars: Meet Annex Void of Detroit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annex Void

Hi ANNEX, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A few years ago, vocalist, Gabrielle-Gloria (Gabby), was inspired to form a progressive metal band after discovering the band “The Contortionist”, introduced to her by her then-boyfriend (now husband) and current ANNEX VOID guitarist, David Dunham. Gabby shared her vision with David, who then joined the project. She then reached out to their close friend, drummer Stuart Lyons. Stuart agreed to join then recruited guitarist Rob Kokochak and bassist Sam Fraser on board. From their very first rehearsal, the five of them instantly connected.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since our debut in 2024, we’ve played several shows that have taught us valuable lessons about optimizing our live setup. One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced recently was mastering our IEM system, which came with a steep learning curve but is now running smoothly. As we grow, we’re continually improving our communication and finding better ways to merge our creative visions.

ANNEX VOID is a progressive metal band from Detroit, Michigan, recognized for bringing an innovative edge to the genre. One of our proudest achievements is the release of our EP “Will I Dream”, a five-song collection designed to be experienced from start to finish, complete with interludes that enhance its flow and storytelling.
