Check Out Brian Peck’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Peck

Hi Brian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
While I have always had a curiosity about photography, When my son was born 15 years ago, the desire to document our life, really brought about the photographic passion. After some years had passed and we started to travel to picturesque places; it was time to up the game and get even better at the craft. However, this was only the start of the journey to get better at the craft.
About 5 years ago, Kamera Clips was born, doing portraits for people and capturing their moments. In 2020 enrolling in Oakland Community College to learn even more about the art of photography. From film to digital and the history of art. Getting a degree in Photography, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Which brings us to today. Having built up my photography business, especially in capturing portraits. Which would be for the single person, couples, families, etc. I will do events and weddings, thought portraits is my specialty.
My own creative interest outside of photographing people is doing exhibits in local Art shows. Having been in quite a few over the past year. In March of 2025 my first solo exhibit will be at the Canton Art Factory; “Grit and Glory, a Detroit showcase”. Photographing the familiar and yet a bit different about our beloved city.
A passion that started with family, branching out to other families and the wonderful world we live in and back again to capturing moments with the family. A full circle of the passion to capture life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Having a photography business is not the easiest thing in the world. There is so much competition and saturation in the market. While digital photography has made it easier, it also has made the market much tougher to stand out. There are times when I have risen above the crowd and there are times when I don’t think anyone knows about me. Yet keep pushing forward. Having to be a content creator along with a photographer, is not something many of us sign up for.
The other side of the creative journey with Art shows can be hit and miss, depending on the theme and judges. While I have placed, I have not won the big prizes. Although, having a solo show is something many photographers have not had the opportunity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When one talks about niche within photography, there is a wide range of what that means. For me it would be the personal experience people get and the ability to do creative work.
While anyone can use their phone nowadays to get a picture. For those that want a creative light portrait or think outside of the box type image. This is something I can do and sets me apart. The challenge with that is some people don’t realize what goes into that. It’s not photoshop its actually capturing that moment. If you want an image to look a certain way. You have to go to the place, have the light similar and your moment similar, to recreate what you are seeing online. When you find the person, couple, or family, wanting that and open to how to get it. Then you have created art with your portraits. It is a great moment to create something unique. Anyone can give you a good standard portrait but not everyone can give you something that is different.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
While of course fame and fortune are what everyone wants, or at least it seems. Having images that are interesting and get a second look are better. Not every picture, not every portrait, not every time you touch the camera; are you going to hit a home run. However, even the greatest players in baseball did not hit homeruns all the time. But gave consistent looks and once in a while knock it out of the park. This is the reality of art. Be it a photograph, a painting or what have you. It is subjective and not everyone will like it. but within the ones you get, there will be something you will like.
