Exploring Life & Business with Jess Anderson of Lakshmi Global

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Anderson

Hi Jess, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in small-town Michigan as the daughter of a county sheriff/Vietnam veteran and a Filipina entrepreneur, I learned early on about bridging cultures and the power of hard work. My father’s dedication to public service and my mother’s business acumen shaped my understanding of leadership and integrity. Farm life taught me about early mornings and perseverance, while my Filipino heritage showed me the importance of strong family bonds and genuine connections.

As a Gen X mom navigating the modern business world, I noticed a growing disconnect between overwhelmed American business owners and the incredible talent pool of Filipino professionals. The idea for Lakshmi Global sparked when I connected with Crys Malinis, an exceptional entrepreneur from the Philippines. Our partnership felt natural – we shared the same vision of creating meaningful connections in an increasingly automated world.

What started as a conversation about helping overworked business owners quickly evolved into something bigger. We saw an opportunity to bridge cultures while solving real business challenges. Drawing from my unique background, we built Lakshmi Global to reflect the best of both worlds – combining Midwestern values with Filipino dedication and excellence.

Today, we’re more than just a virtual staffing company. We’re creating partnerships that transform businesses and lives, proving that genuine human connection remains invaluable in our digital age. Our journey continues to be guided by the principles I learned growing up – integrity, hard work, and the belief that success is sweeter when it’s shared.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a bridge between cultures, even with my unique background as a half-Filipino Michigander, has come with its share of challenges. Initially, some American business owners were hesitant about working with virtual teams across the globe. Despite the Philippines’ strong English-speaking workforce and cultural alignment with the U.S., we had to overcome preconceptions about international business partnerships.

As a Gen X entrepreneur, I also faced the challenge of convincing fellow business owners that genuine human connection is possible in a virtual setting. While younger generations might readily embrace digital relationships, my peers often needed to see real proof that virtual assistants could become trusted team members rather than just distant contractors.

Another significant hurdle was maintaining our commitment to fair wages and genuine relationships while competing in a market that often prioritizes cost-cutting over quality. We’ve stood firm in our belief that success comes from treating people right – whether they’re clients in Michigan or team members in the Philippines.

Perhaps our biggest ongoing challenge is resisting the pressure to automate everything. In a world rushing toward AI solutions, we continue to champion the irreplaceable value of human connection, understanding, and initiative. It hasn’t always been the easiest path, but it’s the right one for creating the lasting, meaningful partnerships we believe in.

We’ve been impressed with Lakshmi Global, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What should we know about Lakshmi Global? My journey to creating this company springs from a unique foundation – I’m the daughter of a Michigan county sheriff and Vietnam veteran father and a hardworking Filipina entrepreneur mother. Growing up as a farm girl in small-town Michigan while embracing my Filipino heritage taught me invaluable lessons about bridging cultures and the universal values of hard work and integrity.

What do we do? Together with my co-founder Crys Malinis from the Philippines, we connect U.S. businesses with exceptional global talent. Being half-Filipino myself, I understand firsthand how Filipino work ethic and values naturally align with American business needs. Our team members are fluent English speakers who bring both professional skills and cultural understanding to every client relationship.

What sets us apart? While the world rushes toward AI and automation, we’re doubling down on human connection. As a Gen X business owner, I know that real success comes through genuine relationships and shared understanding. The discipline I learned from my father’s law enforcement career and the entrepreneurial spirit from my mother’s business acumen shaped our approach: combining Midwestern straightforwardness with Filipino warmth and dedication.

What are we most proud of? We transform overwhelmed business owners into confident leaders by providing them with support they can truly trust. When small and medium-sized businesses partner with our virtual assistants, they gain team members who understand both American business practices and the importance of going above and beyond. Our virtual assistants become genuine extensions of our clients’ businesses, proving that distance is no barrier to creating strong, productive relationships.

What do we want readers to know? Lakshmi Global isn’t just another virtual staffing company – we’re a bridge between cultures, built on lived experience and deep understanding of both American and Filipino work values. Whether you’re drowning in administrative tasks or looking to scale efficiently, we offer something different: a partnership that combines the best of both worlds, rooted in integrity, powered by genuine human connection, and dedicated to your success.

How do you think about happiness?
Being a positive force in an increasingly polarized world brings me genuine joy. While others focus on divisions, I find happiness in creating connections and watching lives transform. Seeing a stressed entrepreneur finally able to breathe easier, or witnessing someone’s talents being truly valued for the first time – these moments remind me why I do what I do. Making the world a little better, one relationship at a time, is what brings me true happiness.
