Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Elliott.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a young adult, I began my journey in pet care while attending community college. With a lifelong passion for animals, I recognized a growing need for reliable pet sitting services in my local area. My small business quickly gained traction, thanks to a dedicated client base and a reputation for providing exceptional care.
After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, I embarked on a career as a zookeeper. However, my love for caring for pets and my desire to prioritize family led me back home. I re-established my pet care business, naming it Jackie & Joe’s Pet Care in honor of my beloved childhood pets.
With hard work and dedication, I’ve successfully built a thriving business. I attribute my success to effective marketing strategies, strong community connections, and, most importantly, a genuine love for animals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a successful pet sitting business has been a rewarding journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. While the initial steps were exciting, it soon became clear that running a business requires significant time, energy, and financial investment.
Balancing a growing business with personal commitments can be demanding. However, the satisfaction of providing exceptional care for pets and the trust built with clients make it all worthwhile. I found it is important to set competitive rates that reflect the value of our services and the expertise we bring to each job.
Educating clients about the complexities of professional pet care is a continuous process. We strive to communicate the value of our services and the difference it makes in the lives of pets and their owners. By highlighting our experience, reliability, and dedication, we aim to build long-lasting relationships with our clients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our business started as a mother-daughter team. Inspired by our own furry companions, my mother and I strived to deliver personalized services exceeding our client’s expectations. Now we have a dedicated team that undergoes rigorous background checks and is certified in pet CPR and first aid. We prioritize ongoing training to stay current with the latest advancements in pet care.
With a comprehensive range of services, including pet sitting, dog walking, dog training, doggie daycare, and wedding pet attendant services, we’re here to meet all your pet care needs.
What sets us apart from competition besides our continuous training and certifications is that we have great communication with our clients. We always keep an open line of communication with our clients. We use an app specifically to send our clients updates on their pets, so they can stay in the loop!
We also spend quality time with their pets. We don’t just feed them and then run out the door. We take the time to get to know them as individuals, and their different personalities and quirks. When we send our clients messages, we want to include little stories about their pets that let them know that we are spending time with them and learning all about them and what they like/don’t like.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
A crucial lesson I’ve learned is the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. While our businesses are our passion, it’s essential to prioritize self-care and family time. By taking regular breaks and scheduling time for relaxation, we can avoid burnout and maintain our overall well-being.
Remember, taking time for yourself isn’t selfish; it’s essential for long-term success.
