Check Out Venetia Lyons’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Venetia Lyons

Hi Venetia , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey as a Writer began years ago when I was a young girl, I enjoyed writing short stories and plays and even plays where I would create great characters and have my friends and family act out the characters at our family gathering. I even wrote a play in elementary and persuaded the school librarian to help my class to put it on using puppets as the actors, the play was well received so much so that we were asked to do an afternoon performance for the students.

Fast forward years later, life happens, and my writing and dreams of becoming an author took a back seat to wife, mother, homeschooling mother of four, and partner in several family business ventures. So. for many years the only writing I did was lesson plans, business paperwork, and a few entries in my journal.

The children grew up and did what most of our children do leave home and now I have hours and days of free time, so I begin slowly and cautiously writing in the morning. what started as a venting session soon gave way to a new hope and my return love for writing. I began to spend not only morning, but I created a blog called Strength for the Journey and posted daily, words of encouragement for myself and others. I received such possible responses and followers that I decided I would begin to write my book. I used other writing groups’ information to help me along the way, on how to self-publish and i began. I not only wrote my first book but also founded ” Strength For The Journey Publishing Company and released my first book ” No More Crumbs” a fictional character but faith-based book about emotional healing.

My journey as an author has led me to own my own publishing company and collaborate with other writers on many writing projects.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey as a writer, author, and business owner, has not been smooth. Writing the book was only one step, what I had not realized was now I was creating a business that would employ me.

As a business owner, I needed to fill many roles writer, author, and CEO of a new business. I was responsible for hiring contractors who would help me bring my book to the market, someone to design my cover, proofreaders, editors, and print-on-demand companies.

I didn’t give up, I did my research on everyone that I would have to do business with and continued to move forward trusting myself every step of the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Creative , meaning I have an idea and bring it to fruition. My passion is helping women heal through emotional hurt. I do this through my writing and speaking to groups. I also facilitate helping women as a writing coach to enable them to move forward in their healing journey. I host monthly Women’s Writing as Healing Workshop series that responds to the needs of women who want to get writing while connecting to a close and supportive circle, fostering empowerment, personal growth, and healing.

My accomplishments are important to me, I not only started writing again but I went on to publish my first book under my own publishing company. I am so glad that I did not listen to the naysayers, including myself. I am most proud of becoming a published Author and owning my own publishing company.
Hosting my book signing and it was a great success, family, friends, and even some of my followers from my social media platform attended. I am most proud of just starting to write and not giving up on my dreams.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories were spent in my neighborhood library, every week I would go to the library and spend hours writing stories and plays. One of my best times was once a month the library would bring out the mobile book bus and we would spend the day with storytellers, puppet show, and refreshments.
