Daily Inspiration: Meet Drew Struckmeyer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Struckmeyer

Hi Drew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We all grew up playing music at church together, where we learned a lot and made some great memories. We decided to start playing music together outside of church too in 2020, which led us to forming Prior Noon.

We’ve taken each phase of the journey step by step. At the beginning, we formed the band to keep playing music together and have a cool story to tell down the road. Over the last 5 years, we’ve been working hard and taking advantage of some great opportunities. This has combined into performances and numbers that we’re really proud of and thankful for.

Being in a band with friends you’ve had for most of your life is a really cool thing that adds so much to the overall experience.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has been a ton of learning. Navigating roads like how to start booking shows with very few contacts, learning the full recording process, and figuring out how to get our music on streaming services like Spotify was quite the challenge, but one that we enjoyed taking head-on. Learning all of these things made the victories in each of these departments that much more meaningful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a country band based out of Grand Rapids who all grew up together playing music in the small town of Lowell. Our original music is inspired by our shared experiences that center around coming-of-age and our small-town upbringing. Our music tries to capture all of the experiences, both good and hard, that you go through in your late teens and 20s.

We have had the awesome opportunity to open for big names in country music, including Jon Pardi, Jo Dee Messina, and Gabby Barett. We’ve also had the awesome experience of releasing songs to Spotify, where we’ve accumulated over 400K streams, and sending a song to country radio that charted in the MusicRow Top 100.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Country music is definitely on the up right now in terms of popularity. It’s cool to see country artists get more widespread recognition and support.
