Rising Stars: Meet Zendalannette Thomas of Kalamazoo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zendalannette Thomas

Zendalannette, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey to becoming an author, entrepreneur, Wellness & Well-BEing Architect, and Reiki Master began with a transformative decision: to be the first to put myself first—completely and without compromise. After over 21 years in a Fortune 500 career, I realized it was time to step into a new purpose. When the question arose about relocating for my corporate position, I responded confidently, “No, I am not. I will do what God is calling me to do.”

This decision marked the beginning of a journey that was as challenging as it was transformative. At first, the path felt overwhelming and emotionally intense. But with time, I embraced being uncomfortable, and in those moments, I discovered resilience. I gradually became stronger, opening space for myself to be ‘Ever-Evolving’—a phrase that eventually became the name of my blog, “Ever-Evolving…”

As I grew personally and spiritually, I was also drawn to deep, aligned relationships—soul-filling connections that enriched my journey and supported my growth. I often describe this time as a period of being “beautifully broken” by the Divine, which allowed me to shed limiting beliefs and rebuild into the person I am today.

This journey laid the foundation for my business, TRC – Thomas Rose Consulting, where I guide others to nurture their whole selves—mind, body, and spirit. Along the way, I authored three books, the latest of which has become my daily compass, reminding me to live AUDACIOUSLY with bold, radical intentionality.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been anything but smooth—bumpy, challenging, yet ultimately rewarding and transformative. My struggles ranged from losing a comfortable salary to having no income at all for over five years. The strong, confident person I portrayed on the outside had been stripped away, leaving me to confront who I truly was beneath the facade.

I faced waves of depression, self-doubt, and insecurities—many self-imposed. Not feeling fulfilled at my core took a toll on my marriage and strained relationships with those closest to me. I went through a complete breakdown, not just financially but also emotionally and spiritually.

There were times I didn’t know who I was, what my purpose might be, or what I needed to feel truly fulfilled. I was broken in mind, body, and spirit. My soul felt deeply blue.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love connecting with women who are ready to become their BEST version—now and in the future. My work centers around teaching them how to embrace self-care through a variety of wellness and well-BEing practices. I specialize in modalities like Reiki, yoga, journaling, releasing, and meditation—tools that have enriched my own journey as I walk through life AUDACIOUSLY.

What sets me apart is my commitment to teaching, demonstrating, and living by my Human Design (HD), which I encourage others to embrace in their own lives. My mantra, “Be the First to Put You 1st… In All Ways & Always,” serves as a reminder and affirmation of the powerful ripple effect that self-care can have on every part of life: mind, body, spirit, and soul.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For anyone starting on their wellness & well-BEing journey, I encourage you to lean into the mantra: “Be the First to Put You 1st… In All Ways & Always.” In a world that may view self-care as self-centered, remember—it’s not! Prioritizing yourself allows you to become your best version, creating powerful, positive ripples. When you’re at your best, you uplift those aligned with you, bringing grace, class, and humility to every interaction. This approach has the power to transform lives, including your own.

For entrepreneurs beginning their journey, I advise you to do something every day that moves your business initiatives forward. Engage in reciprocal relationships that align with your goals, dreams, and desires. Never settle. And, as my Ace, Tiffany Lakes, reminds me, “Just Keep Going!”

One thing I wish I’d discovered sooner is my Human Design and Gene Keys. Having access to these tools has allowed me to embrace true authenticity and recognize when I’m functioning from my Not-Self Theme. I’m immensely grateful to my HD coach, Erika Lynn Brown, for helping me understand my Design. This insight provides me with tools for intentional self-care that keeps me balanced—mind, body, spirit, and soul.
