Hidden Gems: Meet Natalie Bycraft of Multipassionite LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Bycraft

Hi Natalie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a multi-passionate creative, interested in trying many different artforms ever since I was a kid. Writing and painting though have always been my favorites. Now as an adult, I try to make a living from my creations. I paint with acrylics, mostly for fun (but I do sell paintings from time to time). And I wrote and self-published my first novel, Daughter Nature, which came out in October 2023. It’s available on Amazon as a paperback and ebook: www.amazon.com/Daughter-Nature-Natalie-Bycraft/dp/B0CKDBG55S

Along with painting and writing, I provide graphic design and editing services through my company, Multipassionite (intentionally named to honor those of us with a wide variety of passions and interests). Back in 2018, I started creating logos and apparel designs as a freelancer for companies, gradually gaining clients across a wide variety of industries. And on the editing front, I provide developmental and line editing for other writers on their manuscripts. In 2023, I officially upgraded my freelance work to a real LLC, and that’s when Multipassionite was born.

Currently, I continue to design and edit for clients, and I am working on my next book as well! This book will be a collection of poems and short stories that I plan to publish early 2025. My first draft of it is just about finished, and I will be busy editing, formatting, designing the cover, and getting ready to publish in the coming months. For anyone interested in a behind the scenes look at how I write books and how I go about publishing, I write blog-style posts about my writing process on Substack: nataliebycraft.substack.com

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With the majority of my previous clients, the design and editing processes have been really enjoyable! But even though designing and editing come relatively easily to me, one of the main challenges I’ve come across is finding clients and consistent work. My goal is to continue to find amazing clients to work with and create a sustainable business. I’ve come to realize that building a company that has a stable intake of clientele can be a long process — especially if you can be impatient with yourself like me — but I have no doubt Multipassionite will get to that point.

As for my writing, the process of writing Daughter Nature was not an easy one, but I was still learning how to create a writing practice that worked for me and how to keep myself motivated to work on the book in my free time. Now that I’ve done it once and I’ve created that habit of writing, I’m finding it much easier to stick with working on my book the second time around.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Multipassionite, we want to be known for celebrating the generalists, the multifaceted people who collect passions and crave learning new things. Each of us “Multipassionites” (as I call us) has a unique blend of skills, passions, knowledge, and interests that no one else in the world can replicate, and we think that’s pretty cool. “Staying in our lane” and “choosing a niche” are not our style. And if you can relate, you’ll fit in perfectly with us!

I have always been proud to be someone who wants to experience as much of what life has to offer as possible. And I know many people like me who love learning and who chase whatever interests them in the pursuit of finding new passions. My company is a nod to those people.

Multipassionite Publishing & Design caters to writers and their needs. We edit manuscripts for writers, providing developmental and line editing depending on the author’s preference. We can design book covers for writers (I designed Daughter Nature’s cover), though we are more often creating logos and apparel designs for various companies and clients. And Multipassionite is looking to expand into coaching, guiding writers through self-publishing or helping to motivate them if they get stuck along the way in their writing process.

Personally, Multipassionite also serves as my imprint, the company under which I publish my books.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I was in elementary school, a piece of artwork I had created was chosen to be part of an art showcase. I don’t remember many of the details, but I believe the showcase was for select students from different schools across the district. I do remember that my oil pastel drawing was of a bunch of dinosaurs, the most prominent being a big yellow Brachiosaurus (the long neck one). This was one of my first memories where I remember feeling really proud of my art and being excited to share it in public.
