Hidden Gems: Meet Amanda Princz of Fun in Farmington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Princz

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Fun in Farmington because I wanted a central place to find all the amazing local happenings in and around Farmington and Farmington Hills. As a mom and a Farmington resident who loves this community, I knew there were so many unique activities, businesses, and events that people just didn’t know about. Since a resource like this didn’t exist, I decided to create it myself, focusing on highlighting everything that makes Farmington special—from family-friendly activities to local businesses.

Over time, Fun in Farmington has grown into much more than what it started as. It’s now a trusted platform where locals and visitors alike can discover new places, connect with the community, and support small businesses. As it continues to grow, Fun in Farmington is becoming an even more valuable resource, expanding its reach and impact within the community. It’s been an amazing journey watching this passion project evolve, connecting me with incredible people and allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the community I care so much about.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a learning process! What started as a hobby and a passion project has grown into a full-fledged business, which has brought both excitement and its share of challenges. One of the biggest struggles has been adapting to the demands of running a business—from navigating the technical side of website management to balancing my time between creating content, engaging with the community, and managing relationships. I’m grateful for the support of the Farmington community and the amazing businesses and followers who believe in what I’m doing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fun in Farmington?
Fun in Farmington started as a way to showcase all the wonderful things happening in and around Farmington. My goal was to create a trusted, one-stop resource where people could find local events, discover hidden gems, and connect with the heart of our community.

What sets Fun in Farmington apart is its truly local focus—it’s run by someone who lives here, loves this area, and wants to celebrate everything it has to offer. From family-friendly events to small businesses that deserve a spotlight, Fun in Farmington is all about connecting people with new experiences and supporting our vibrant local scene.

I’m especially proud of the community that’s formed around Fun in Farmington. It’s become more than just a page; it’s a place where people can discover something new, connect with neighbors, and celebrate everything that makes Farmington unique. I want readers to know that every recommendation, feature, and event shared on Fun in Farmington is genuine and carefully chosen to help everyone get the most out of our wonderful community.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is the incredible power of community. Especially in a post-pandemic world, I’ve seen how much people are yearning for connection and a sense of belonging. Fun in Farmington has shown me how vital it is to have spaces where people can come together, discover shared interests, and support one another.

Building a community like this takes time, patience, and a willingness to adapt. Sometimes, you don’t know exactly where something will lead, but taking that first step is worth it. Fun in Farmington has taken on a life of its own in many ways, evolving beyond anything I could have initially planned. But by staying open to change and keeping the community’s needs at the center, it has become a truly meaningful resource for so many.
