Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanisha Wynn
Hi Tanisha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am 33, a mother of 2 girls, from Detroit. A few years ago, during the pandemic, i started a business just like everyone else lol by the name of Little Divas & Women Accessories, making charm bracelets by hand and also selling items such as purses for women and children, lashes, keychains, hats, sunglasses and more. While doing this i really wanted to focus on my passion which was reading and writing.
I had this idea to create journals and planners and never moved on it. The research that i had done, i saw that to get these printed from a third party would be a bit expensive. Fast forward, years later, i finally took myself serious, did more research and learned that i can use Amazon to upload what i have created, and they will print and ship out. I published my first planner, my 2025 yearly planner in the middle of September and 3 months later have 1 planner and 3 journals published. While waiting on 2 more to be published.
My creativity surprises myself sometimes but I’m blessed to be able to show my children that there are many ways to do what you love, even if the motion is slow in the beginning
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s has not been a smooth road. A few years ago, in 2022, my boyfriend was murdered. I was in school for my associates degree and i did not have the drive to keep going. However, i pushed myself and started back later that year, near the beginning of 2023. I received my degree in May of 2024.
The resources on to make journals and planners, are a bit limited, as everyone wants you to pay for everything. I was able to join a fb group and eventually learned that it was other ways other than what i was seeing. Even now that my items are published, sales are not what I want but I’m not stopping. I never know who i may be inspiring.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I worked for a mortgage company for 8 years that is located in Downtown Detroit. I started as a temp and worked my way up as a presidential closing title coordinator. I am most proud of my drive, my will to keep going no matter what adversity i am hit with. Making my own journals and planners, i am more than proud that these are my own creations and not something that i bought from someone else and using as my own. Creating these journals and planners from scratch can be a bit challenging but i let my creative my take over and so far, I’m loving what I’ve come up with.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is defined by happiness, not by the amount of money you make. If you are able to do what you enjoy and make money from it, that’s a plus. I went from collecting journals to making them. I collect books, I’m in the process of writing one. The market for the items may be “over saturated”, but these are also things that i love. Just seeing my name as the person who created these items and to sell them, is success.
