Meet David Lieb of Ida. Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Lieb

Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m David Lieb, a professional MTB athlete and
content creator with over 7 years of industry
experience. Fueled by a lifetime passion for mountain
biking, I’ve developed my skills both on and off the
trails. With a background in Mechanical Design
(Associates Degree) and hands-on experience as a bike
shop mechanic and sales specialist, I bring a unique,
technical perspective to my riding and content. As a
full-time road warrior, I’m always seeking out the next
adventure, pushing boundaries, and sharing my journey
through engaging photo and video storytelling. I am from Ida, Michigan which will always be my home no matter how much time I spend traveling the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Making a living in the mountain biking industry is challenging, with better years and worse years, and currently, the industry is going through a tough financial period. Beyond financial challenges, I’ve also faced physical setbacks, like battling a torn ACL after a crash in Australia. Recovering from injuries like that requires both mental and physical resilience, but these challenges have shaped me into a more determined and adaptable athlete.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create content for brands, team up with marketing crews on product drops, and hit up races and freestyle events to show what’s possible on the bike. I also work with resorts to run clinics and coaching camps, helping riders of all levels improve and have fun.

What I’m most proud of is being able to mix my skills on the bike with my technical background, so I can put out content that’s not just cool to watch but also teaches and inspires people. I think what sets me apart is that I know the industry inside and out—I’ve worked as a bike shop mechanic and sales guy, so I really get the technical side and how to connect with people. It all comes together in everything I do, whether I’m riding, coaching, or creating content.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to always keep it fun. If you’re not enjoying the ride, it shows, and it’s easy to burn out. At the same time, think about how you can provide value to your audience—whether it’s through tips, entertaining content, or just sharing your authentic experiences. Finding that balance between having a blast and making sure your audience gets something out of it is key. If you focus on that, you’ll grow naturally and stay stoked along the way
