Meet Eve Taylor of PGIM Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Taylor

Eve, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born on the south side of Chicago. Grew up acting, singing, and dancing in church and at local theaters here. Went to Whitney young for high school and learned A LOT. Was a lifeguard in high school. Acted in shows at many theaters here. Debated going to college for musical theater or business. My dad had always talked about real estate being to key to financial freedom so I decided on business school. Got into Ross as a freshman and made the most of my time there academically and in my extracurriculars. Spent most of my time at Michigan growing culturally and socially. I was in Enspired Runway at Michigan all four years and played a key part in the survival of the organization through COVID. It is still blossoming! Also was on the Black Business Undergraduate Society’s eboard all four years. Was in two musicals with Musket Theater Group. Overall met the most amazing people EVER at Michigan who I now feel incomplete without.

I had two internships at PGIM Real Estate in different offices around the country and in various roles. Got my full time offer before I started my senior year thankfully. Been successful working on PGIM RE Equity’s Debt Capital Markets Team where I’ve been growing tremendously in my finance expertise and real estate aspirations. I am simultaneously pursuing my passion for fashion, modeling, and film. I’ve been in many fashion shows since graduation and walked in NYFW and London Fashion week this past September!

I am most fulfilled in my faith, with my family and friends, building a life for myself where I can pursue art and business at the same time, and loving my cat, mushroom!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I’ve struggled with the choice of participating in society’s expectations of me as a working class person while also having dreams and aspiration that I want to make reality. I’ve also struggled with the following: Being confident enough in myself to be vulnerable and open myself up to disappointment. Not knowing the exact right thing to do. Having too many options of how to lead my life…while at the same time having very limited options due to finances. Making big girl decisions that will not just impact my entire future but also impact others.

We’ve been impressed with PGIM Real Estate, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love working for PGIM because the people are smart yet caring. They really do emphasize bringing my authentic self to work and it shows in the work product I deliver. I take pride in the Debt Capital Markets Team there. We work as intermediaries between lenders, internal fund managers, asset managers, internal and external counsel, and operations teams. I hope to use the knowledge I’ve gained to create sustainable wealth for myself in real estate. As well as continue to fund my creative endeavors. I am also a working model and actress. Sometimes it feels like I’m living a double life lol

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think formal mentoring programs are a great place to start because it can pair you with people you may not have met before. If your company doesn’t have a program like that, you could take the initiative to start one! Finding informal mentors is more organic and arguably more fulfilling. A mentor is usually looking for young people who show a genuine passion/interest in their experiences and growing in those capacities. The biggest tip I can give is to just be authentic. Not everyone will mesh well with you but there will be people where it’s clear you both can gain something for talking to each other and keeping in touch
