Jill, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love of making jewelry began when I was a young girl, simply enjoying the process of creating bright, sparkly necklaces and bracelets from craft store kits. While my materials and aesthetic have evolved over the years, jewelry making remains a passion that has followed me throughout my life, offering a creative outlet whenever I needed it. As I grew older and began to hone my unique aesthetic, a few guiding principles became clear to me.

First, I was drawn to using comfortable, sustainable, and natural materials. I want my jewelry to be beautiful but also responsible—free from harmful impacts on the environment and safe for both the maker and wearer. That’s why I work exclusively with vegetable-tanned leather, sourced as a byproduct of the food industry, and natural gemstones. Vegetable tanning uses natural tannins, reducing environmental impact and ensuring safer conditions for those producing and wearing it. Meanwhile, natural gemstones carry their own unique energies and stories—something no lab or factory could replicate.

I’ve always been drawn to geometric shapes, patterns, and the designs created by ancient civilizations that were deeply attuned to the natural world. This fascination inspires the distinct look of my work, merging nature and form into pieces that are truly unique and meaningful. Each design is crafted with intention, allowing women to express their individual stories through jewelry that feels as good as it looks.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything I do. I carefully handcraft each piece in my home studio, cutting, sewing, burnishing, stamping, and finishing every detail myself. Each piece embodies my commitment to quality and care, ensuring that it reflects both my aesthetic and values. I also love statement jewelry that sparks conversations and captures attention, but comfort is essential, so my pieces are lightweight enough to be worn all day without a second thought.

My jewelry is distinctive yet versatile. Personally, I love pairing my pieces with fine jewelry, creating looks that blend personal meaning with timeless style. Each design is crafted to feel soulful and intentional, reflecting a woman’s individuality through textures, shapes, and stones. It’s my hope that my clients feel empowered to express their unique spirit, layering and mixing pieces that speak to their own stories and style.

To this day, making jewelry brings me as much joy as it did when I was young. Each piece I create is a celebration of individuality, crafted with care and intention. My hope is that my designs not only enhance my clients’ personal style but also empower them to express their unique stories. With every necklace, bracelet, and pair of earrings, I strive to create jewelry with a soul, handcrafted for the unique spirit in all of us.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One ongoing challenge I face is the ebb and flow of my creativity. There are phases of intense inspiration where ideas come rushing in, and I can’t create them all fast enough. During these bursts, I’ve learned to capture those ideas in my sketchbook, prioritizing what I can create in the moment and saving others for later. Conversely, I’ve also experienced times where I hit a creative block. During these times, I rely on my backlog of sketched ideas to keep my hands busy and to help reignite my creativity. Embracing this cyclical nature of creativity has taught me to trust the process and remain patient, knowing that inspiration will return.

I absolutely love reimagining meaningful symbols through my jewelry and discovering unique, one-of-a-kind gemstones at gem shows. There’s something magical about taking a beautiful gem and bringing it to life in a piece that resonates with someone. I strive to create jewelry that feels empowering and meaningful, helping women express their unique spirit.

It’s incredibly rewarding when someone reaches out because they saw a friend wearing one of my pieces and loved it! I also cherish when customers come back for something new; hearing how many compliments they get and how much they love their jewelry truly fuels my passion.

Unique designs, one of a kind stones, and my commitment to quality craftsmanship using eco-friendly materials sets me apart. I handcraft every piece in my home studio, pouring my heart into each design. My goal is to create jewelry that not only looks beautiful but also wears well and tells a personal story.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success with my jewelry business is about nurturing a passion that has been with me since childhood—something that brings me joy and fulfillment. It’s not just about sales or recognition; it’s about continuously creating and evolving as an artist. When I come up with new designs and collections that reflect my unique aesthetic and resonate with my clients, I feel accomplished.

I also believe success lies in fostering genuine connections with my customers and knowing that my jewelry brings them joy and meaning.
