Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Wilson
Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My jewelry making journey started about 7 years ago now (wow, I hadn’t even realized that). What started off as a fun little hobby has now blossomed into this gratifying, fun job. I’ve always been crafty, ever since I was a little girl. I loved coloring, painting, drawing, and almost anything that was hands-on and crafty. My best friend Bria was honestly the one who saw the potential in my jewelry. She thought that my pieces were beautiful and that people would actually pay for them. Never did I imagine that people would actually love my pieces as much as they have.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner has not been an easy road, I don’t think it has been for most entrepreneurs. In the beginning I would make jewelry before I would receive payments, so you can imagine the amount of times people would change their minds on actually purchasing and picking up orders. Right now one of my biggest struggles is keeping up with the social media part of my business. I won’t lie, I’m not a huge fan of having multiple social media platforms to be responsible for, but I know now that a big part of growing a business now relies on social media and networking.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I actually make a living making custom handmade beaded jewelry. This is something I didn’t even think was possible, and yet, here I am doing just that. Although I make and sell some duplicated pieces, I specialize in customized jewelry making. I love making people’s visions come to life with my jewelry. Custom made jewelry is the most challenging and yet fun to make. It gives me so much joy and satisfaction when they receive items from me that were once only just mere thoughts or vague descriptions. All of my work comes from the heart, but custom made pieces are just that much more special to me as well as my customers.
What matters most to you?
God, my health, and my happiness is what matters the most to me. With God in my life none of this would even be possible. I have hit some really bad lows in my life, especially after the passing of my father in 2015. I had lost my zest for life and for a moment I had also lost my will to live. God never gave up on me and kept me going,
Health and happiness almost go hand in hand. How happy are you truly if your overall health isn’t good? Ive been on this journey to better health and it definitely has been rewarding. My job, family and friends also add to the joy that I feel in my life.
