Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Marez
Hi Alejandra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had originally gone to esthetics school for the facial aspect of it. I avoided providing waxing services in school, as much as I could. After graduating esthetician school, I started working for a waxing company.
Yes, waxing!
Waxing as my career has been the best decision i’ve ever made.
I LOVED IT!
Years go by after working at a waxing company, that I felt stuck in my career. I had left that job, and decided to venture of in different parts in the esthetic world. I hated it!
I give so much credit to my parents and best friends Marisol & Sebastian. If it wasn’t for the constant support and, encouragement to open my own studio up. Not sure how long it would’ve taken me to be here today. My mom & dad are the ones who have helped with everything I needed, painting, moving, cleaning, and making any business decisions.
I’ve own Grwaxstudio for about to be 4 years now. It all started with only $2,000 in my savings account and a friend to ask if I wanted to share a small little suite with them. My clients who have trusted me all these years have been the greatest blessing. It’s more than just a wax appointment, we’re all literally the adult friends who were only able to see once a month because life is so busy and chaotic. There’s so much more for Grwaxstudio coming soon and it’s so exciting to know that It came from saying, I will never wax, to now owning my own waxing business. Never say never haha.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road ? Absolutely not !
There’s been times that I felt that I didn’t deserve to be in this career. Being in a non-compete, not making enough but for rent and supplies, or feeling like this business wasn’t going to take off.
I had worked a second job to help me out.
It’s felt like no one close to me could understand the stress of owning your own business brought. It could take a tow on you mentally. Mental health is so important, It was hard understanding that in order for me to be successful in my career, I had to make sure I was mentally strong.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Grwaxstudio?
Grwaxstudio, is a small latina owned business. It is my baby. I offer all body waxing, but do more brazilian waxing. I love the bond that has created with every human that walks through my door. I’m most proud of how far this has actually gone. I would’ve never imagine this being my life. I’ve learned so much about owning a business and myself, because I never figured that I would be working for myself, and there’s so much more to learn.
Something that sets me apart ? How open people get when they first meet me. I love that i’m able to make someone so comfortable, when they first meet a strange who is about to rip their hairs out.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Authenticity! Being yourself & genuineness can do so much for a successful career. Clients want someone who they can feel comfortable with, who they’re able to relate with and like a friend to them. Someone coming to get an intimate service done by a strange, is such an awkward thing to think of doing first the time. Letting them know that their service provider is also someone who has daily struggles like anyone out here, makes people feel like they can relate, and feel so much more comfortable while getting a waxing service done.
