Meet Michelle Segba of Lamos Signature

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Segba

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It was 2010, in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria, I took a leap of faith and launched LaMos Signature, my fashion business. I was driven by a passion that had been simmering since childhood and spent endless hours watching runway shows which fueled my dreams and ignited my deep appreciation for beauty and color. I would raid my sister’s wardrobe, draping myself in her clothes, envisioning a world where I was both designer and model. I even tried a bit of modelling but finally found my dream in designing. With each stitch I sewed, I could almost see the joy on my clients’ faces when they wore my creations, their smiles reflecting the essence of what I’d always dreamed of. Those moments became my inspiration, the confirmation I needed to push forward in a journey of creativity and self-expression.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a fashion designer, the obstacles and challenges I have faced, and still face are a mix of internal and external pressures. My drive for perfection makes me my toughest critic, constantly pushing me to refine and improve my work. While I can distinguish between objective criticism and subjective opinions, the pressure to meet both my high standards and the expectations of others can be overwhelming. Fashion design demands not only creativity but also immense dedication, commitment, and resilience. It’s a field that tests my ability to persevere through tight deadlines, evolving trends, and fierce competition, but my passion fuels my determination to succeed.
