Rising Stars: Meet Jes Hann of Detroit | Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jes Hann

Hi Jes , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story began behind the scenes, where I dabbled in photography, interior design, event planning, I am always tapped for hair and makeup and shopping for special occasions (think weddings, proms, hocos, Halloween, etc.. I have a wonderful friend who asked me to model for her while she shook a little rust off that was back in November of 2023, and after some encouragement I found some wonderful people through some Facebook groups advertising tfp Model/Photographer opportunities. I’ve been able to cultivate impactful relationships with amazingly talented photographers, so greatful most have blossomed beyond the traditional business relationship. This has also helped lead to connections with other models, which has been a lovely and insightful view into others experiences within the industry.

With a lot of hard work ( I know, I know, It sounds like Kimmy K! But the message I think she was trying to deliver is … What is for you is for you, but you have to be brave enough you have to be driven enough, and oftentimes delusional enough to continually put yourself out there- Be seen. Be heard.
Disrupt the space by Creating your own lane if you have to…. to me those things are hard work) and staying extremely busy I’ve been able to build a fairly large portfolio, showcasing what amazing talent Detroit has to offer, as well as a peek into the possibilities of Phoenix.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is anything as smooth Road? Haha.
I would say, I have been extremely fortunate in connecting with the people I have, who together, we’ve been able to create moving pieces of art.
What I will say has been rather difficult is finding great representation who will jointly work to bring appropriate collaborative opportunities your way.
I’ve recently joined Hannah Noelle, and am looking forward to our partnership- they have a great reputation and are upstanding in ethical practices (which to me, are very important in this industry).

It is never easy to find a way to monetize your passion(s), however, I feel as if I’m moving in an appropriate direction and I’m so grateful for what the future will bring.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Modeling is an interesting business. You see and meet artists of all kinds. When you find your tribe, it’s glorious.

In my personal choices, I love to push myself! Posing in unique ways, that read well on camera. Creating interesting color concepts, giving your eyes a journey. Or my favorite, my little black heart loves all the dark moody, provoking work.

I’m a small that reads tall (er than I am 😉). Being able to showcase fashion in an eye catching way is something I pride myself on. I always want to go above and beyond for a client, photographer and myself.

I don’t know if I am the best to ask what sets me apart from others… but what hopefully does is this…
You will always have a genuine experience with me, as I am authentically myself. I want to see people win and succeed. I want ideas to soar wildly further than ever anticipated. And I will always stand up for the change I want to see.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I cannot give enough love to my city. Detroit is a wonderfully beautiful people. Where else in America can you say has risen like a phoenix from the ashes, to display its new gorgeous possibilities? Detroit (ish) is full of dreamers who are willing to grind it out no matter what, to succeed. We go weeks without sunlight, going to jobs with hard hours of manual labor, we are a people who are resourceful enough to have hustles when things get a little tough, and we always prevail. I could not be more proud of Detroit! Who she is, where she came from and who she’ll be in the future.

And you won’t hear a bad word from me. Outsiders do enough of that already.

Detroit vs Everybody- forever my motto 🖤
