Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Shurlow

Hi Trevor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Entrepreneurship has always been something I’ve been around and interested in. Growing up, I saw my father take an idea and turn it into a business, so from a young age I saw that it was possible to create your own path. My upbringing along with my passion for accounting and helping others led me to starting Score Keepers Financial. At the beginning of 2023, I took a bit of a leap of faith and left a great job in Public Accounting to help a family friend’s business by managing their books, and after seeing the kind of value a bookkeeper can provide for small businesses, it made me want to pursue expanding Score Keepers to try and help other small business owners. I’ve found that many small businesses either don’t have the time, training, or resources to do their bookkeeping themselves, or to hire a full-time bookkeeper, so it brings me a great deal of satisfaction to allow the business owners to focus their time on expanding their business and chasing their dream while I help them stay financially organized and chase my own dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There definitely has been some struggles along the way. As I mentioned previously, leaving my previous job was a bit of a leap of faith. Turning down that financial security to bet on myself and start from the ground up hasn’t always been easy, and getting my name and brand out there is still a work in progress, but I couldn’t be happier to be on this journey.

We specialize in providing small businesses with day-to-day bookkeeping services. Things can get stressful for business owners, so we are there to keep our client’s financial statements accurate and organized so they can keep their main focus on operating their business.

Services we provide include:
– Entering deposits
– Sending invoices
– Recording and classifying daily transactions
– Managing accounts payable and receivable
– Bank reconciliations
– Providing monthly financial statements

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I was blessed enough to have a wonderful childhood, so narrowing in on one favorite memory is quite difficult. I suppose what stands out the most is all of the quality time I got to spend with my parents and my brother. It was a very supportive yet competitive environment, where I was always encouraged to pursue my passions and to put 100% of my effort towards whatever goal I was chasing.
