Check Out Scott Griswold’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Griswold

Hi Scott, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2015 I purchased my first Jeep. A 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport JKU. It was the first brand new vehicle I have ever purchased and I quickly was introduced to the Jeep life. I soon found some like minded friends and, along with my wife and daughter, we started going on trail rides together throughout various trails in Michigan. I would always bring a camera and GoPro with me to document our adventures. Our first big trip was up to Drummond Island later that year. Needless to say we loved it and have gone back every year since. Once back from that trip, I uploaded the Drummond trip to YouTube and it started growing interest from other off-roaders. Things kind of snowballed from there. More trips, more adventures, more videos. Thus, Trail Expedition was born. We have started to branch out of our home state to run trails in other parts of the country, which has significantly grown the channel as well. Who would have thought a little side hobby would turn into something like this!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Can broken parts be considered an obstacle? Haha! Other than the occasional broken part and difficult trail, the process has been a lot of fun! The hardest thing about being a YouTuber is the editing process. That’s the part on the back end no one really sees. Typically I’ll have 2-3 hours of footage from a trail ride then spend a couple of days whittling that footage down to a 15-30 minute video.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Trail Expedition is a YouTube channel that specializes in off-road and overland content based in Michigan. We run various trails in Michigan and other states with our Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator. We love to push the limits in our videos and run some very difficult trails. Sometimes it gets us in trouble but the story to tell is always worth it. The videography and storytelling in the videos is something we pride ourselves in. We aim to provide general off-road knowledge and encourage our audience to get out and explore.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
YouTube is not my primary job but more of a hobby that turned into a side hustle. Depending on how the channel grows, it would be amazing to eventually do full time YouTube as it is something I thoroughly enjoy.
