Hi Siloam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ones love of music is an intimate relationship. I was drawn to beauty of singing as a little girl and knew I wanted to become a singer. It was a long journey as mine was not a typical one. There was an enormous mountain that stood between that dream and now.
Challenges are a normal part of our existence. For me the challenge was insecurity wrapped in shyness.
It took many years to understand that my shyness was a result measuring myself by the strengths and opinions of others, which ultimately delayed my pursuit of music until college.
Thankfully, I have been blessed to meet, learn and work with wonderful-talented people. With them, time and learning to embrace my uniqueness freed me, so that music could express itself fully through me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, the journey hasn’t been easy. Initially, it was my own insecurities that I had to overcome.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is not just musical timing, but also life’s timing.
As I embrace my purpose and pay attention to the signs, the road has become smoother.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Music is a powerful force with immense capacity to impact a person’s state of mind. The responsibility as a singer-songwriter is a gift I take very seriously, in what we create and share with the world.
After years of performing together, building a reputation as engaging performers audiences love, my bandmates and I wrote and produced our debut album “Simple Complexity”. The project is an immersive music storybook, filled with body swaying grooves.
We are thrilled and honored by the marvelous reception our album has received from radio, media, and listeners alike. This journey has introduced us to many incredible individuals across the globe, embodying the very reason we are passionate about our work.
What distinguishes us is our dedication to using our platform to inspire people and support communities.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many may not realize that in high school, I joined the choir to conquer my fear of singing in front of others. On the first day, the instructor had us sing individually to determine our vocal range and appropriate choir section. However, he didn’t reach many of us that day. Overwhelmed, I promptly went to my counselor and withdrew from the class.
I was tremendously frustrated with myself for letting fear derail my dream. Yet, it was this intense frustration that compelled me to find a way to conquer that mountain. That experience was highly enlightening. I have learned much about myself, my purpose and the ways in which the light of life persistently seeks to guide us.
